Some Hints (Generally Speaking)

Some tips!

1. If the music has three beats per bar it is for waltz or the Viennese Waltz, depending on whether it's slow or fast respectively.

2. For the Cha Cha Cha music the two sound are invariably used.
a) Cow bells, the type that is long cylindrical shaped, and made of iron or other such material. Brass is not used since it is costly. The brass bells give a sharp ringing sound and the iron ones give a dull "tong tong" kind of sound.
b) The kind of sound a flexible metal broom would make when it hits the kettledrum.

3. You could be slightly confused between the music for jive and Quickstep. Just remember that the Jive music is generally slower, has marked beats, sounds bouncy, etc.

4. Tango music gives the feeling of sudden stopping in the flow of the music and the dance. Also between the fourth and the first beat for many pieces of music, there is a roll of the drums, which sounds like the firing of a machine-gun.

5. Samba music has a consistent "boom a boo-oooom" sound. Also about 90 % of the folk music in the world are almost alike.

6. Rumba music is distinctly "Keherva Taal" of the Indian classical music.
