Waltz: Basic Sequence: Part 3
The first basic sequence. |
Basic Sequence: | |
1. First Part 2. Second Part 3. Third Part 4. Fourth Part |
Reverse/Natural
Turn Hesitation Combination Under Arm Turn |
Third Lesson: First Part/Regular
Move forward for "1" as given above. In this position, the Right foot
is free, which is moved to the side for the count "2". Simultaneously
the Left foot is released from the floor. Now the Right foot is on the ground,
and for the count "3" close the Left foot to the Right foot. In the
process the feet are together, body weight is taken on the Left foot, and
simultaneously the Right foot is released from the ground.
Thus the movements here for the counts "1, 2, 3", would be ‘forward, side, close’.
Similarly for the counts, "4, 5, 6" the movement is ‘back, side, close’. Thus the Right foot is moved backward for count "4". The left foot is moved to the left side for the count "5". The Right foot is brought close to the left foot and the body weight is transferred on to it, and at the same time releasing the Left foot from the floor.
Repeat the movements again and instead of repeating the counts "1 to 6", count the same movement from "7 to 12".
This concludes the First Part of the Basic Sequence that we will call for the moment as ‘Regular’.

Alternative Pattern 1
Start the exercise with the Right foot moving forward. Thus, the Right foot
moves forward for the counts ‘1’, ‘7’, and the Left foot moves back for
the counts ‘4 ‘and ‘10’.
Alternative Pattern 2
Start the exercise with the Left foot moving back. Thus, the Left foot moves
backward for the counts ‘1’, ‘7’, and the Right foot moves forward for
the counts ‘4’ and ‘10’.
Alternative Pattern 3
Start the exercise with the Right foot moving back. Thus, the Right foot moves
backward for the counts ‘1’ and ‘7’, and the Left foot moves forward for
the counts ‘4’ and ‘10’
Now you could practise this exercise alone with a partner with all the alternatives given. After this, practice the First and the Second part together, changing a part every time after the twelfth count. Thus if one commences with the Left foot forward for the first exercise then the Second exercise is also commenced with the Left foot moving forward.
Note: It is important to be able to do the First and the Second part of the sequence continuously before going for the next part. Since the next part is very closely related to the first two parts. So, please practise.
