Viennese Waltz: Basic Sequence

The first basic sequence.

Please Note: This is a sequel to Waltz: Basic Sequence

This is almost exactly same as the Waltz on the previous page. The slight differences are:
1. The movement is at a faster rate, about three steps per second.
2. In the Fourth Part the Underarm Turn is replaced by first part with a pause for the "12"     count.
3. Turns are whenever on is doing the Regular (forward/backward, side, and close     movement).
4. A turn of 45 degrees is only to get the understanding of the angles. One should slowly     attempt to get larger turns.
5. All the parts are done till the count of 12, or for 4 bars of the music.

Basic Sequence:
1. Natural/Reverse Turns         First Part           With turns
2. Hesitations                           Second Part      No turns
3. Combination                        Third Part          Turns only when doing regular
4. With Pause                          First Part           Pause for the count of "12"

Practise the basic sequence given above until one is able to recognise the individual figures as distinct identities. When this happens you would be able to move as you like, with the mood, the need of the situation and instance.

Hint: The main stress should be on practising the Natural and the Reverse turn. The use of Contra Check (The pause part done in the Fourth Part) helps to change the foot and get the turns to the other side. Remember to reduce the swing for the turns when about to dance the Pause.

All the best and Happy Dancing.
