Foxtrot: Basic Sequence: Part 2

The first basic sequence.

Please Note: This is a sequel to Waltz: Basic Sequence

Basic Sequence
1. Quarter Turn
2. Natural Pivot Turn
3. Reverse Pivot Turn
4. Under Arm Turn
5. Side Step

Second Lesson
The movements given hereunder are common for the Man and the Lady.

Pivot Turn (Forward)
Start with feet together and weight only on the Left foot and the Right foot is just off the floor. Also, stand facing square to the wall (such that the shoulders are parallel to the wall in the front and the feet remain perpendicular to that wall).

For the first count of "Slow" move straight back and transfer the full body weight on the Right foot. The Left foot can remain in front. For the next count of "Slow", move forward on to the Left foot. After stepping on to the Left foot let the body keep moving forward and draw the Right foot to the Left foot. As the Right foot closes in with the Left foot rise on the Left ball and simultaneously bend the both the knees such that one’s height remains almost the same. Next is to tilt slightly to the Left and push up strongly by straightening the knees. This will result in turning to the Left on the Left foot.

At the end of the turning movement, move to side on the Right foot for the count of first "Quick". For the count of second, "Quick" join the Left foot to the Right foot, and immediately releasing the Right foot from the ground. For the next count of "Slow" move Backward on to the Right Foot.

Summary 1:
1 Left foot forward Slow At the end of the step start to turn to the left
2 Right foot to the side Quick
3 Left foot closes to the Right foot Quick
4 Right foot moves backward Slow

Summary 2:
1 Right foot forward Slow At the end of the step start to turn to the right

Pivot Turn (Backward)
Start with feet together and weight only on the Left foot and the Right foot is just off the floor. Also, stand facing square to the wall (such that the shoulders are parallel to the wall in the front and the feet remain perpendicular to that wall).

For the first count of "Slow" move straight forward and transfer the full body weight on the Right foot. The Left foot can remain at the back. For the next count of "Slow", move backward on to the Left foot. After stepping on to the Left foot let the body keep moving backward and draw the Right foot to the Left foot. As the Right foot closes in with the Left foot rise on the Left heel and simultaneously bend the both the knees such that one’s height remains almost the same. Next is to tilt slightly to the Left and push up strongly by straightening the knees. This will result in turning to the right on the Left foot.

At the end of the turning movement, move very slightly to side on the Right foot for the count of first "Quick". In this position, the Right foot is very close to the Left foot. For the count of second "Quick" transfer weight on to the Left foot and immediately releasing the Right foot from the ground. For the next count of "Slow", move forward on to the Right Foot.
