  2009 x-country information

Summer Conditioning:  HS only Every Tuesday and Thursday starting July 2.  Starting July 20, for the three weeks before the season starts, JH and HS conditioning will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  We meet at 7:30AM in the back parking lot of Prairie Oaks Metro Park (northeast corner of Plain City-Georgesville Rd. and I-70.)  There is no cost for you to be there however it is highly recommended as you will be expected to be in cross country shape by the first practice August 10. Come to conditioning. It will help prepare you for the season so that you will avoid injuries. Conditioning is not restricted to just CC team members so bring anyone along who might want to join us.  We should be done around 8:30 AM everyday.

You should plan to run in 4 or 5 5k road races this summer.  Most races are Saturday mornings, and will really help prepare you for the season.  If you are interested in participating in any, don’t hesitate to ask me about them so I can get you more information.  There are many places on the internet you can find lists, however the websites I use are at Run Wild, Second Sole, and Run Ohio.

Your summer vacation is going to go very quickly and our first meet is Wednesday, August 26 at New Albany, the 2nd day of school.  To be ready to compete, you need to start training 2 months in advance. 

The Season: The first practice is Monday, August 10 at 7:00 AM at the Junior High.  We are only offering one practice a day this year and yes it is early.  It should allow you to be able to be done early enough to go do other things such as band or work.  Practice is a requirement, not an option!   Attendance will be taken.  You should allow for 90 minutes for practice most days.  Practice will be longer (until ~5:30PM) when we run to Dairy Queen.  Trim Day will by August 15, unless we have a rain out or I don't get the bridges in.  Once school begins, the practice schedule will change. Practice will start at 2:55PM weekdays (no Fridays this year!)  I will let you know about transportation to the Junior High from the High School for practice.  Those in Band will need to join us at the Junior High as soon as band practice ends.  If you are unable to attend a practice, you will need to let me know the day before why you are unable to attend.  You can email, call, or text me if the reason comes up after practice the day before.

I will consider this season successful if you all work hard and improve.  But I also want you to have fun!  If each of you can look back at the end of this season and say, “I am glad I ran this season.” I will consider it successful.

As of now, meets are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.  I might add a couple of dual meets and Mondays will be a possibility.  We have a couple of Saturdays off this year.  The schedule is located via the link at the left.

We are going to the Mason Invitational again this year!    I also plan on taking the team to The Beach again this year.  The meet is on Sept. 12 so plan on an all day event that day.

Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 PM I will hold a meeting for you and your parents to attend at Columbus Running Company on Perimeter Loop. You need to attend! If you cannot, you need to contact me.  Please bring your physical form with you to turn in.  You are required to have a physical before you can start practice.  Physical forms can be found on the OHSAA website here.  Be sure that both you and your parents have signed the form and that both pages have been completed.  You can call Dr. John Adams II at the Adams Family Medical Center for a physical if you need a physical for the next year.  The phone number is 614-873-3434.
