Jacob ~ Hero

"When my brother fell in the creek it scared me. I didn't

want him to die so I tried to help him. When I jumped in

I knew I was probably going to die and I drowned too.

When they got me out of the creek and woke me up

I was so scared. I wanted my brother. Everyone says

I was screaming and yelling and fighting them. I

couldn't walk or talk. Mom says that's because I was

so cold. They took me to the hospital and mom came.

She was at work when the accident happened. But

they took my brother to Children's Hospital on a

helicopter because he was still dead. So mom had

to go to Children's Hospital because they said my

brother might die. My dad stayed with me until my

mom called and said he should come to Children's

because Jacob was very hurt and might die. Then

my papaw stayed with me all night. I could not

sleep at all. I only slept 2 hours. I tried to watch TV

but everything on TV had water in it. I was so scared

and my chest hurt. They took xrays of my chest and

it was ok. I got to visit Jacob at the hospital for the

first time on my10th birthday. He was still in ICU. My

mom says he smiled his first smile when he saw me.

That makes me very happy. It also made me very

happy when I saw my brother walk for the first time

on one other time I went to see him. When I got to

the hospital the day when he walked, I didn't even

know he could walk. I was so surprised because it

had been a long time since he could walk or talk.

I'm so glad my brother can walk and talk. When he

couldn't talk, I missed him. I wrote him a card that

said, "Get well soon. I need someone to fight with."

Now he's home and we fight all the time. Oh well, I

asked for it! I'm so happy that my brother is home

and we are all doing good. I love my brother and I'm

happy our family is together. And I even happy that I

can fight with my brother! Sometimes!"
