Vision
Jackson Theological Seminary is a positive expression of the vision and determination of our zion to produce and sustain great leaders. The seminary was established in 1886 and has served and will continue to serve as an effective guide to those aspiring to become leaders in their perspective religious commnities.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church decided to develop a Theological Institution for the development and religious education of both clergy and laypersons, providing students with the opportunity to reflect on the Christian faith and its contemporary significance.  Great leaders, in both religious and secular fields, have the Jackson Theological Seminary as  part of their resume...  i.e. Dr. Cecil Cone, Dr. James Cone and others.
The Jackson Theological Seminary is owned and operated by the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Instructor/Class ratio
The classes are small enough to allow the student to have more direct contact with their instructors.  The instructors are  available to the students for additional consults outside of the class room..
Instructors from Jackson have received their    degrees from accredited Seminaries such as Payne Theological Seminar, Perkins School of Theology and of  course, Jackson Theological Seminary. The Administrative staff serves under the guidance of Dr. Richard Allen Chappelle, Sr., Presiding Bishop of the 12th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
