| The M.R.E. degree program is intended primarily for those preparing for work in the local church as directors of religious education. The M.R.E. is an excellent degree program for the lay worker in the local church who wants to improve his/her teaching and instructional skills.
Requirements for Admission The requirements for admission to the M.R.E. program are the same as those for the M.Div. program. Requirements for Graduation The M.R.E. program requires 54 term hours of academic credit. A minimum cumulative grade average of 2.0 is required for graduation. The same average is required for continuation in the program beyond the first year. All requirements for the M.R.E. degree must be completed within five calendar years from the time of initial registration. Admission to Candidacy M.R.E. students will be reviewed for admission to formal candidacy for the degree in the fall term following the completion of 18 term hours of academic work. A student will be admitted to candidacy provided that he or she is not on probation. Admission to formal candidacy signifies that the student is proceeding satisfactorily in her or his work and may be considered for the degree upon completion of all the requirements, but does not obligate the seminary to grant the degree. Course Requirements The course requirements for the Master of Religious Education degree allow for a concentration in Christian education or theological studies. Every M.R.E. student must complete take CE 7465 Curriculum and Curriculum Writing and 27 term hours in the following course divisions: I Division of Biblical Studies 12 hours II Division of Historical Studies 3 hours III Division of Theological Studies 12 hours |
