The Show : Stage II

During "Can't Shake It"... it was my turn. I motioned to Jack to come over and he did... While he was singing, I reached into my shirt for a second, took my hand out, and reached in with the other. After a second, I pulled out my "bra" and flung it at him. All he could do was shake his head, and really try not to laugh. To his credit, he let out a small one, and quickly got his composure back and kept singing. During the solo part of the song, he started to put the underwear up on Audie's drum kit, when he came across a pair of guys briefs. He held them up, and shook his head. He then went ahead and put the on! Finished the song, and started to laugh. He took them off and said... "I thought I said no guy shit? Are these yours?" and pointed at me; all I did was laugh and shake my head no. "Lets see," continued Jack. He opened them up and pretended to be looking for a name tag... "hummmmm..." and he read... "These are Shot's"... He let out a laugh, and said... "Thats sick man," and flung them back at me. By this time, everyone was just rolling with laughter. I showed this pic to Queen Kate, and she said it kinda looked like Alex after he had one too many LOL!!!
Here are before and after shots of the "Panty Raid." I would say we helped the hammock drive a bit!!! Hope we helped Jack LOL!!! The fun continued as Jack grabbed the mic and said "Were gonna do a song that we have never done before live." I didn't know that I said it loud enough for Jack to hear, but I guess I did. (Let me set this up) While we were in CT, I asked if I would ever get to hear a song, and Jack said it was always possible. So, that is why I kinda questioned "Pain Overload?" Well, Jack looked at me, and grinned and said "This isn't a fucking wedding reception Shot, you can't fucking make requests..." and started to laugh again. He continued to say that if they screwed it up, too bad, they had poetic license and it was their song. If it doesnt sound right, we meant to do it, and another laugh. Well, the song was Hooked's Lovin' Kind, and they pulled it off awesomely!
Next up, things got serious. Jack talked about Great Zep and said that they were going to do a song from it. Michael started in on the keyboards and Jack did his best Robert Plant groove in front of Audie. The song of course was No Quarter. I have seen Plant/Page do this live, and I have to be honest. I will take the GW version any day. If you shut your eyes, and listen to Jack sing "Close the door, put out the light..." you would swear it was Robert Plant. I had the honor to see GW do this somg five times this week, and it just got better and better. I really don't think I could get tired or hearing it. For a very difficult song, they just seem to do it effortlessly. Just amazing. Anyone who would doubt Matthews playing, just has to look at this song to see that he is one of the best out there right now. Just amazing that he has gone so long without anyone ever hearing about him. Great Job! But an even better job on the next song!
Next up was Matthew taking the lead on Voodoo Chile. He did both the lead guitar and singing. This part of the show also included the Jam. Sean really gets funky with his bass. Truly one of the best soloists I have ever seen. He seems to become one with his instrument, and it shows with his sound. Audie also got to do a bit of a solo tonight. Once again, one of the most underrated drummers of all time. He puts both his heart and soul in what he does, and it also shows in his sound. Not sure why solos went out of style, and most will say they are doing this to give Jack a break because of his throat problems... but if you remember, they have been doing the solo part for over a year now. Done right, a solo can be a great part of a show, too bad not many bands can pull it off like Great White.
