Mistabone Get Together!

We have been talking about it for years now. Even since the old days of the Great Vine on Shortdog's site, all the fans have always wanted to get together for a Great White show. Well, years of wishing finally came true.
There were about 12 of us who actually got together for an evening of food, drink, fun, drink, laughter, drink, music, drink and even more drink. Mia, Jill, and I drove in from the City, found the venue, and started to look for people. We hooked up with Cristin and went in to the venue. Well, it didn't take long for us to get booted out of the club, so we went outside to continue to look for people.
Well, no one was to be found, so we shot the chit with the guys who were working at the door. After a bit, Mia, Jill and Cristin took off to go to the hotels to try to find people. I stayed behind just in case anyone showed up. After about an hour, Mia and Cristin came back to get me. We headed over to Queen Kate's hotel, where she was with her friend Sue... just a waiting for us.
Alex, Lori, Joe, Sara Jill and Cristin all showed up next, and we went up to Kate's room to do the intro.s. We all sat for a few and talked and then decided to head down to dinner.
First things first, the King and Queen, LOL. What king would not be the most happiest person in the world with Kate? Sigh! It's good to be the King :) Even though I don't drink, they had me doing shots of tequila and drinking beers. We all took the chance and ordered food, even though we all thought we were going to be booted for being loud and having a bit too much fun... But we made it! Poor Alex almost didn't make it. He seems to think he is a drinker, but I think we all know the truth now LOL. Believe it or not, there was more to dinner than drinking, but that is the boring stuff. I say, lets get to the shot of Alex looking like he is about to hurl! Good family fun!
Here are three really fun people. Sara, the one eating, Jillie, is the one giving the One finger wave, and of course, Alex. Oh, to know what his liver is thinking at this point!
It really is fun getting to know new people. It is just so awesome when you can bring 10 people together who share the same passion for music, not to mention Great White. I can say that it was truly an honor to meet everyone. I hope we can all do it again real soon.
Even though some of us didn't like having our pics taken, right Cristin? :) It was an awesome event. We finally finished up eating, and headed off to the venue knowing each other just a bit better. It was only about a two block walk, so no big whoop. The venue was already hopping. I would say there were maybe 1200-1300 people crammed in and making some noise. We had the pleasure of missing the first band, but were not lucky enough to miss the second. Have to give them props, cause they all did end up with Jack Russell's Solo Tee-shirt on. Kinda looked Funny! They finished and got their stuff off the stage. About 30 minutes later Karnevil #9 started with the now famous opening line... "Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends, we're so glad you could attend, come inside come inside." Us hard-core fans knew that meant one thing. One more song and Jack and the Boys would be rocking the stage.
American band came over the PA, letting us know that the show was next. That song seems to go on for ever when you know what is next. When It ended, a voice came over the speakers and said "Is Everybody in?"... Is Everybody IN?"... The Jaws theme running under it. "The Show is about to begin." And with that... Great White took the stage. They Ripped into Call it Rock n Roll... with Jack jumping onto the stage, doing his little dance with his mic stand, and ripping into the lyrics. They shot through their way too short set with songs including Face the Day, Can't Shake It, Mistabone, Ain't No Shame, Rollin Stoned, Wooden Jesus, Save Your Love and Once Bitten, Twice Shy. All in all, was a great show.
The "New Guy," Matthew Johnson was wonderful. He did an excellent job on all of the Great White songs, and did a smokin' version of Voodoo Chile. We had gotten to Meet Matthew after the Allentown show, and quickly learned that he is a class act both on and off the stage. If you get to meet him, give him a chance. He is in no way trying to be Mark Kendall's replacement... he is being what he should be, and that is Matthew Johnson. Welcome to the band Matthew. Not only are you a great person, but also a great guitar player.
Michael and Audie both did a wonderful job also. This band just keeps going and going, and getting better and better. After the show, you found all five guys outside hangin with the fans, taking pics and signing autographs.
All in all, it was a wonderful evening. I do have more pics to go up of us, the guys, and live shots. Will get them up very soon. Check back on my home page for information on when they do get up. Thanks for your time, and Thanks to Great White for being the Greatest band on and off the stage.
