The Show : Stage III

When the solos got done, the fun started back up. Jack came back on stage and started to talk. "I would like to take a second to thanks some of my best friends in the world." Now, I know I was close, but Jack must have good hearing cause when I said "Thank You Jack," he looked at me and once again started to laugh. He continued on to say "Put the guy on the internet and he thinks he's in the band" "All you do is bring me donuts and smokes. Are you trying to just make me fat and die?" If you were such a good friend, you would be bringing me like Slim-Fast. I'm gonna start to look like a donut if you keep giving them to me (laughs)." "We love ya Shot." (laughs more). "OK, to my left, borrowed from my solo cd, Mr. Matthew Johnson on guitar." And he went on to introduce the rest of the band.
Next up, they ripped into a SMOKIN' version of "Rollin' Stoned". I was happy, cause I also got to help Jack sing on this one too. "We were already gone with no where to go, I was singin' my song with my heart and soul." This song sounded so good.
The next song up was "Rock Me." Another Highlight of the show, and once again, Jack showing how utterly cool he is.
Jack didn't say anything, just smoothly walked up to the mic while Sean was doing the bass line... Jack closed his eyes (pic at right), and uttered... "ohhhh, I say nice and easy, yeah..." "Oh... baby, baby, baby.... yeah..." Everyone in the crowd was really excited. There was a nice looking blond to my right who freaked out when the song started. She reached into her purse, grabbed her cell phone, and called a friend. She yelled something in the phone, which I couldn't hear, but then proceeded to hold it above her head for the person on the other line to hear. Jack got to the second verse, and was now walking around when he noticed the cell phone. He walked over to the girl and grabbed it! He then proceeded to put the mic in his other hand, and held the phone up to his ear! and SANG THE ENTIRE SECOND VERSE TO THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END!!!! He got to the end of the verse, and told the other person, "Give my love to Mom," and gave the phone back. WHAT A TRIP. Imagine... not being able to go see GW, but instead, having Jack sing to you over a cell phone. What an awesome and classy thing to do Jack! The finished the song, and we got the words we all hate, "Thank you, We're Great White, good Night." But, we all know the show isn't over, just very close.
We cheered them back on stage, and Jack mentioned that we all looked like Partiers. A good cheer, and then they ripped into their party anthem, "Wasted Rock Ranger." I can never get tired of this song. When they got done, Matthew ripped into their now closing song Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Jack jumped around the stage and sang; "Well, the times are getting hard for you little girl, I'm a hummin and a strummin' all over gods world. You can't remember when you got your last meal, and you don't know just how a woman feels." By this time, he was standing in front of me, and held the mic in front of my face! I got the second verse all to myself!?!?!...NO, WAIT... I GOT THE SECOND VERSE ALL TO MYSELF. Well, lets just say that Sara described me the best way possible; "Shot, you looked like a deer in headlights!"... Well, when I finally noticed what was going on, I sang "you didn't know that rock n roll burned, blah blah blah..." MY GOD, I FORGOT THE WORDS!!! Well, Mia, and Sara just thought it was the funniest thing ever and started laughing. Jack also started to laugh, and said "Oh, some fan... can't even remember the words to our biggest song," all the time laughing hard. He tried to pick up where I screwed up, but I actually made him lose his place! "Shot! Now you fucked me up man." And started to laugh yet again. All of a sudden, he gets all serious, looks to the guy working the sound board, and says "Have him killed," as he points at me. He looks down at me all serious, and then just burst out laughing again. He gave the third verse to this other guy... and even though I thought it wasn't possible, he did worse!!! What A Show!!! The best ever. They ended the song, and thanked us, and left the stage. WOW, the concert of my life!!!
Well, the trip was coming to an end, and what an end. We all waited a bit outside for all the guys to show up... so we could say bye, and let them know we had a trip. We talked a bit with Sean and Audie, and thanked them for a wonderful week. They let us know that they were happy we came out, and hoped to see us again. Matthew popped out of the bus, and did some pics and signed some "Shelter Me" CD covers. By the end of the week, he really seemed to be settling in, and interacting a bit more with the fans. I don't want to sound pompous, but I hope him hanging with us all week had something to do with it. I have a feeling, he is going to be fine, and is settling into the position with class.
By this time, Jack had made his way over to us and gave me a big hug. I gave him his pack of Smokes and he laughed. I told him I was sorry about screwing up the song and he just laughed and said not to think anything of it. Told him that it was my last show for now, and he said it was nice to see me again! So, I asked if I could get another pic with him, and he of course said "yeah, would love it." So, here is the pic! Jack was called over to talk to a reporter for a sec, so we waited for him to get back. This guy was writing about Jaxx, and asked Jack if he minded playing for such a small crowd, and he said "No, this show was for our friends." As he said that, he turned and looked over at the four of us and smiled. What a great white feeling. JACK RULES!!!

Well, by this time, Matthew had made his way over to us, and had a hug for the girls and a hand shake for us guys. I finally asked him to sign my Shelter Me cover, and he did (left) Kinda hard to see what he wrote, but it says "Shot, Shelter Me, from the martyrs call." and drew little symbols for "peace, love, and music" and signed his name. At this point, I gave him a copy of this pic, as a welcome to the band. Told him that it was our last show and wanted to give him something to remember us by. He thanked me, and gave me a hug. We said our last "heys" and took off. Road Trip Year 2, finished.
All, I can say is Thanks to Great white for such a Great Time!!! What wonderful hosts. I also want to say that it was great meeting all of our new friends. We MUST do this again. With that, I say thanks again, to everyone.
