MORGAN T. BURKE AND KATHERINE LUDDY

Morgan39.JPG (29137 bytes)The next Bourke family is Morgan Burke and Katherine Luddy. Morgan Thomas - Born 15 Jan 1875 and was Baptized 16 Jan 1875 in the Parish of Emly, Co. Tipperary, his Godparents were Thomas Mitchell and Nora Shanahan.   Morgan Immigrated to the United States around 1897.  At this time his name was changed form Bourke to Burke.  After clearing immigrations he went to Waterbury Connecticut where in 1900 he lived as a boarder of John E. Ross at 455 West Main Street.  He became a citizen of The United States 15 Oct. 1900 and was sworn in the District Court of Waterbury, County of New Haven.  Morgan married Katherine Luddy (see Luddy family) in Waterbury Connecticut abt. 1906.   Morgan and Katherine lived in the Luddy's house on Charles St in Waterbury Connecticut for a while then they moved to 11 Albion St. Waterbury Connecticut.  Morgan worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired.  Morgan died 12 Jan 1963 at the Villa Maria Convalescent Home in Plainfield, Connecticut and was buried in New St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury Connecticut 15 Jan 1963.  Morgan and Katherine had 5 Children:

New Haven Connecticut.  Morgan married Fanny Thoms in Waterbury, Connecticut.  They had two daughters Sandra and Susan.  Morgan was a graduate of Manhattan College and Fordam University Law School.  He was a partner of the law firm of Dorsey, Burke and Griffin at 44 Wall Street New York, New York.  On 28 Aug 1959 Morgan was bestowed with the rank of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy; which was a token of appreciation for activities in the interest of the Italian Government. He lived most of his adult life in Larchmont, New York where he also help a position of municipal judge.  Morgan died Dec. 1967 from injuries incurred in a horse jumping accident.

Connel1.JPG (18551 bytes)Noreen Burke - Born  1907 in Waterbury Co. New Haven Connecticut.   Noreen married Donald Connelly in Waterbury, Connecticut. They adopted two daughters Ann and Jane.  Noreen attended Connecticut Normal School and Post Business College.  She held a position with the probate court in Waterbury Connecticut until her marriage.  Noreen's avocation was being a seamstress and created many of her children's clothing with great profession and beauty.  She lived her adult life in Willimantic Connecticut.  Noreen died in Willimantic Connecticut in 1988.

Ludd1931.jpg (277453 bytes)John Luddy Burke (Luddy) - Born 22 Aug. 1909 in Waterbury Co. New Haven Connecticut.  John married Ann Rock in Waterbury, Connecticut Jan. 22, 1942  They had one son John Luddy, Jr.  John was a graduate of Manhattan College in New York.  While at Manhattan John was considered an excellent football player and was elected captain of the team.  After graduating from Manhattan John went to Calif. to help form a professional football league with his friend Mike Mazurki, the league became financially insolvent and folded.  John joined the Naval Service after the bombing of Pearl Harbor attaining the rank of Lt. Commander.  John served as damage control officer on the Destroyers Connors.  After W.W.II ended he entered the business world in the Outdoor Advertising Industry.  He held positions as General Manager New York Metro for the General Outdoor Advertising Company; Ex. Vice President of Packer Outdoor Advertising Cleveland, Ohio; President of Big D Outdoor Advertising Dallas, Texas. John ended his career as a partner in B&G Outdoor Adv. Dallas and San Antoine, Texas.  After ending his business career John returned to Waterbury Connecticut.

Edgertw.JPG (7836 bytes)Edmond Vincent Burke - Born 6 July 1911 in Waterbury Co. New Haven Connecticut Edmond married Gertrude Brown (Born 30 Sept.1910) in Waterbury Connecticut.  They did not have children. Edmond was a graduate of Manhattan College in New York.  He joined the Army at the outbreak of W.W.II and served with General George C. Patton in Europe.  After W.W.II ended he entered the business world with the Chase Brass Company in Waterbury Connecticut.  Edmond left the Chase Brass Co. and joined the National Advertising Bureau where he was a national media buyer.  Edmond lived his entire life in Waterbury Connecticut.

ailbesr1.JPG (5100 bytes)Thomas Ailbe Burke - Born 31 Dec. 1912 in Waterbury Co. New Haven Connecticut.  Ailbe married Alice Bradley 7 Sep 1940 in Waterbury, Connecticut.  They had four children Ailbe, Alice Ann, Mary Jo and Morgan.  Ailbe was considered one of Waterbury Connecticut finest athletes. He was a graduate of Colgate University.  His business career was with the Chase Brass Company where he was a Regional Salesman in the Indianapolis In. branch.  After retiring Ailbe moved back to Waterbury Connecticut.  Ailbe died in Waterbury Connecticut in 1986.
