John Luddy Burke and Ann Rock
John Luddy Burke (Luddy) -
Born 22 Aug. 1909 in Waterbury Co. New Haven Connecticut. John married Ann Rock in Waterbury,
Connecticut Jan. 22, 1942 They had
one son John Luddy, Jr. John was a
graduate of Manhattan College in New York.
While at Manhattan John was considered an excellent football player and
was elected captain of the team. After
graduating from Manhattan John went to Calif. to help form a professional
football league with his friend Mike Mazurki, the league became financially
insolvent and folded. John joined
the Naval Service after the bombing of Pearl Harbor attaining the rank of Lt.
Commander. John served as damage
control officer on the Destroyer Connors. After
W.W.II ended he entered the business world in the Outdoor Advertising Industry. He held positions as General Manager New
York Metro for the General Outdoor Advertising Company; Ex. Vice President of
Packer Outdoor Advertising Cleveland, Ohio; President of Big D Outdoor
Advertising Dallas, Texas. John ended his career as a partner in B&G Outdoor
Adv. Dallas and San Antoine, Texas. After
ending his business career John returned to Waterbury Connecticut. Child:
