| L'arc~en~Ciel, also called Laruku or L'arc, is quite possibly one of the most popular bands in Japan. They have released ten CDs and nearly thirty singles over their sixteen-year career, in addition to four best-of albums and one reissue of their first album, DUNE. Their most recent album, AWAKE, peaked at #1 on the Oricon Top 200 and every album they've released has landed in the top ten. As for Laruku's music, the style varies greatly due to all four members' participation in the composition of each album. Each band member is capable of writing music and lyrics, so, in effect, there are multiple different types of music on each CD, ranging from heavy metal to delicate ballads to catchy beats.
