In Episode Four, Kouji and Izumi met and talked for the first time. Kouji had slept at the Soyokaze Station, and Junpei and Izumi walked to there. Kouji said, ��The Forest Terminal, it isn't,�� he broke out saying very quietly. Izumi looked happy and said, ��Kouji-kun! You came too. Where are you going?�� but Kouji refused and said it wasn��t her business and became angry saying, ��What��s with your attitude?�� Later on in the episode, Kouji saw smoke and noises from the direction of where Izumi and Junpei were. He ran to Izumi��s aid and told her, ��Abunai!�� which in Japanese means ��Watch Out�� or ��Get out of the way,�� Kouji became Wolfmon and defeated Woodmon. He returned the Digicode to Soyokaze Village which greenery all came back. Izumi was very impressed with a face. She walked to Kouji, who was still on the ground, and offered her hand to him. He refused and walked away. She said, ��Chotto,�� which means wait. He didn't bother, and she said, ��Geez, what a strange guy.�� In the dub, she said, ��Why do I try to like a guy like that?��

In Episode Six, Kouji was fighting Grottomon and crashed into the ��sideways�� house. He was about to fall to his death below as Blitzmon came in and saved him. Fairymon and Chakkumon flew in and Izumi offered her hand again. She said, ��Take it,�� and Wolfmon looked down. ��There��s no time for that!�� she said. Wolfmon looked at her and finally accepted her hand. ��Sorry about that,�� he said to Fairymon. ��No need to thank me,�� she said. They then started talking about how to save the Numemon. In the dub, Kazemon said, ��Give me your hand�� Quit the macho act and give me your hand!�� Also in the dub, they put in some evo cuts, and as Kouji cut the ropes from his hands, Zoe yelled, ��Kouji!��

In Episode Nine, when Tomoki was under a dream spell and grabbed a stick still lit, and swung it at Izumi. Izumi jumped back and Kouji jumped in front of her, protecting her, saying, ��Izumi!�� After that, when they agreed not to evolve, Kouji evolved to Wolfmon to illuminate the forest. Junpei got mad, then Izumi defended him saying, ��Kouji-kun isn't like that! What are you saying that for?�� Then afterwards, Takuya evolved to see who the Digimon infiltrating Tomoki was. Junpei got mad again, but Izumi ignored what he said and faced to Wolfmon saying, ��Wolfmon, you have to stop this!�� In the dub, they took out the Tomoki madness scene for ��violence�� reasons.

In Episode Fifteen to Sixteen, after hearing Izumi scream and hitting the living daylights out of Takuya and Junpei, Kouji asked why she screamed. Afterwards the group met up with Gomamon and Izumi really wanted to help them, but Kouji said it was useless without Digivices. Izumi looked down, but then persuaded them, then Kouji finally agreed with her. When Izumi became Shutumon, Calamaramon held her captive in the grasp of her tentacles. Kouji came up with the idea to insult Calamaramon��s ugliness to free her. When she left and reached Gomamon��s island, Izumi ran to Kouji (who was blushing madly) and Takuya, hugging them saying, ��I couldn��t have done it without your help.�� Kouji said, ��Stop it,�� then Izumi went to hug Tomoki and Junpei. Kouji��s face expression after the hug was still embarrassed and blushing.

In Episode Seventeen, the group was sailing on their wooden boat. They entered an area filled with icebergs and it was very cold. Izumi said, ��Cold�� and Kouji heard her, with his head sort of facing her. He said, ��Here,�� handing his jacket to her. ��Are you sure?�� she asked and Kouji nodded. Izumi said, ��Grazie! Arigato!�� while smiling and blushing at the same time. Kouji was also blushing. When Kouji and Takuya found Junpei and Izumi eating instead of searching for the Toucanmon like they should have, Kouji saw Izumi eating, and was smirking at her. In the dub, he said, ��Well, she is a growing girl!��

In Episode Twenty, the group went into the Dark Area. As they saw what they thought were ghosts, were really trees, they all ran away. Izumi immediately ran to Kouji, and hugged him. Kouji was stiff like a stick and blushing madly. Izumi looked up, also blushing madly, said, ��Gomen.��
