- How did you get to know and come to like the show Ally McBeal?
- The time when I first began to watch this show was 11 months ago. At that time, I had just come from Canada and was preparing for getting back to school, staying at my parents' house. So, I had pretty much time and naturally became a couch potato.^^ One day, surfing the remote and trying to find a good show for keeping my English proficiency, I came to know this show. To be honest, I did not even know it was that famous. Of course, I've heard about it, but that was it. Watching it regularly for two months in a row, I was gradually addicted by it. It is a really entertaining, inspiring show. I think Ally McBeal is much better than Friends.
- What's your favorite character of all the cast?
- Since I was watching the show, Calista Flockhart has been my favorite actress. For the very first time, I couldn't somewhat understand the way she behaved. In Korea, lawyers are considered very serious and conservative. So, the image she was making about lawyers was quite shocking and weird to me. However, I came to realize that she was so honest, sweet, cute and attractive in many ways. Apart from the role she's playing, the only thing I do not like about her is that she is now together with Harrison Ford. Personally I do not like him, but nobody can stop one's love. - Can you explain what McBealism and Fishism are?
- As you know, the suffix -ism connected with another word refers to a feature of attitudes, behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs. So, McBealism and Fishism basically means distinctive characteristics of Ally and Richard's thoughts or principles in their love and work. First, there are a lot of quotes that can tell us Ally's way of thinking, namely McBealism. Here is one example.
"I think I need to believe that it works.Love, couplehood, partnership. The idea that when people come together they stay together. I have to take that with me to bed every night, even if I'm going to bed alone. That's a McBealism." -- Ally McBeal
In the show, Richard Fish is a very practical person. The thing he only cares about is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. He even considers the law as a means of earning money. He does not care about something that happened in the past, which is also a part of Fishism. If you watch this show, you'll see him saying
"Bygones" frequently. For those who want to feel Fishism more, there are some his lines down here.
"We started this firm with the same dream -- money -- did we not? In
pursuit of this dream we agreed I would be the shark, hammer, and ass,

- There are lots of romances related to Ally in the show. Out of all Ally's men, which do you think is the right one for Ally?
- From season 1 to 5, Ally meets many handsome and attractive guys and actually each episode is devoted to her search for Mr. Right. I heard that now Ally's boyfriend is Victor Morrison, starring Bon Jovi. Since I haven't seen season 5, I have no idea whether they would be well-matched couple or not. So, based on what I've watched, I think that Billy and Larry are the right men for Ally. If I have to choose just one person, it would be Larry. What makes me think so? There are the reasons down here.

It seems that they are making a good couple. They know each other better than any other person, because they've been together since their childhood. It was very sad to see that they tried to hide their feeling toward each other.I really hoped that they would get back together. Yet, no matter how much they love, it is certainly wrong to betray Georgia. Also, the person who left Ally for his career was Billy. That's why I think that he is not good enough for Ally. However, we can't deny that he's a nice guy.

As I mentioned briefly on the "My Favorite McBeal Moments" page, my favorite TV couple is Ally and Larry. The reason I think so was that Ally looked the happiest when she fell in love with him. They meet by chance when she drops by Tracey's office to consult with him. He is also an attorney. I hoped that her efforts to find her Mr.Right would have ended by getting married with him, but they broke up eventually. Yet, I appreciate the moments they were together. |

- Ally McBeal is also famous for its beautiful songs. Which song do you like the most?
- I already mentioned that one of factors that made this show unique and entertaining was its music. Four O.S.Ts including a Christmas album have been released since it was on the air. I possess all the CDs except the first one because it was out of stock. The songs are mainly sung by Vonda Shepherd, but you can also listen to other cast's songs. If you want know how well Larry sings, you can buy the album "For Once In My Life." I guarantee that all the songs in each O.S.T are worth enjoying. I'm like a saleswoman for Ally McBeal O.S.Ts. aren't I? ^^ I chose some songs for those who want to get a glimpse of them. If you click the title of each song, you can hear its sample.
- What do you usually do to keep your interest in Ally McBeal? Do you have anything that you specially treasure out of stuff related to Ally McBeal?
- Unfortunately, now I can't watch the show because my TV is not connected with a cable. However, I brought some Ally McBeal video tapes that I'd recorded in my parents' house and I'm watching them regularly in my spare time. No matter how many times I repeat watching them, I never feel bored. Also, I am a member of Daum Cafe called "So Cool! Ally McBeal and I'm actively attending a preview, where shows selected episodes on a regular basis. From the Cafe, I could meet lot of good friends and share their apprecitions. Being toghter with people who have the same interest as mine always makes me happy.
The things I treasure as a fan of Ally McBeal are the vedio tapes that I mentioned earlier,the scripts I have collected and the o.s.t CDs. Recently, I bought a set of Ally McBeal video tapes featuring mainly season 1. I hope that its DVDs will be soon released in Korea.
