Wu-fei Chang is the martial artist of the Gundam pilots. He is very proud of his lineage. His family was a powerful force in China, the finest martial artists in the country. The Goverment at the time was frightened of them, so they were exiled to a desolate space colony. Wu-fei carries on the tradition, using his Gundam - Shenlong, which he nicknames "Nataku".
He is filled with a sense of honour, from which he cannot deviate. He even refused to kill his arch-enemy, Treize Khushrenada once, due to the fact that he would consider it dishonourable. Wu-fei is also a lone-wolf, and refuses to fight with the other Gundam pilots most of the time. He often has a better idea of what is going on than his allies. He also as an unbridled ego, which shows sometimes, at the most inoppertune moments.
Wu-fei is unable to ajust to life without battle, and thinks that the people who gained peace as a result of Wu-fei's fighting, are ungrateful. Wu-fei's only real friend is Nataku, who he sometimes talks to, and even once asked it to denounce him.
