Duo Maxwell is about a friendly a warrior as you'll find. He isn't as serious in attitude as the others, but on the battle field, he is just as lethal. Duo was a scrap merchant in outer space, when he discovered the Gundam Deathscythe. Somehow, he was roped into piloting it, and found himself taking part in Operation Meteor.
Duo is very friendly by nature, and repeatedly shows kindness to the callous Heero, despite repeatedly having these kind gestures rudely thrown back in his face. His pererverence eventually pays off, as Heero's heart begins to thaw, and Duo and Heero become lifelong friends. In the manga, they actually become lovers, but in the anime, neither of them are gay.
Duo is quite comfortable being a civilian when he is not needed as a soldier, and unlike the others, he has a job waiting for him when he gets home. Duo is known as the God of Death, due to the fact that he is quite the killer when piloting his Gundam.
