| Odin- The supreme god of war, thought, poetry, and intelligence. Many legends revolve around Odin. But thru all remain his thirst for knowledge and power. One legend states Odin sacrificed his eye ball to his uncle Mimir just to drink from the beverage of wisdom. He was also said to exchange his eyeball to the dwarf smith for his spear. Odin is said to be the wisest of all deity's. he is known to be able to see and know all. it is said Odin only drinks wine at his feasts, and the meats placed in front of him are given to the wolves that reside at his feet, Geri and Freki. Odin is known as a magical sovereign. With a vast knowledge of runes, a magical method of divination which was later used in the information of the alphabet in which he created. Runes gave Odin great power. The power to cure any illness, kill any enemy's. His magical powers gave him the ability to make many personalities. His favorite was the traveler, he could roam the earth in disguise. His ravens Huginn who personified thought and Muninn who personifies memory. would ride round the earth every day to gain the knowledge, in which they would return back to Odin by night and give the knowledge to Odin. Odin is mostly pictured traveling on his 8 legged horse named Sleipner. Odin appeared to Gunnolth in the form of a snake and spent 3 nights with her. In those nights he drank from the beverage of poets Odraerir. As a warrior, he encouraged his warriors to fight like wolves and dogs. In which came the race that looked of werewolves. Legend says Odin hung himself from the tree of life for 9 nights depriving himself of food and drink. By carefully watching all around him, he noticed magical runes beneath him. With great effort, he was able to lift his runes to him, and was soon released from the tree. Odin carries his magical spear, Gungnir, and wears the magical ring Draupnir. There are far to many myths of Odin to cover them all. Oegir- sea deity. Consort of Ran, as Hell he also rules the underworld. he raised up the fierce waves called Kolga. Oku-Thor- Name Thor used when he journeys into the thunderstorms. Ope- Demon of torture and hysteria. Otta- Sea deity, son of Hreidmar and brother of Fanfir, and Reign. A fisherman that was known to change into an otter. he was killed by Loki. |
| Ragnorlodbrog- Sun hero. Very possible he was the mortal named Gagnar. he killed the winter serpents, and was given the name Lodbrog. Myth states he could only be killed by a viper. Ran- Goddess of the sea. Mate of the Deity Aegir. Said to pull drowning men down with her net. She had 9 daughters who represented the waves. Regin- A god of celestial and wisdom. Some say he was the god of sowing and prepping. He taught Sigurd the art of the warrior. In which Sigurd in turn used his knowledge to kill Regin. Rerir- Drought aspect of the sun. Grandson of Odin and son of Sigi. Rerir wanted a son, the message got back to Freyja. Freyja sent one of her messengers to deliver the couple an apple. When they are of the apple Rerir and his wife discovered aloud them to conceive. They had a son named Volsung. Shortly after Volsung was born though.. They both died. Rig- The name used by Heimdall when he created the 3 races of men. Rind- Personification of the hard and frozen earth. She is a giant goddess. |
