Lofn- Goddess of love, she is said to be the one who smiles on Illicit unions and sparks passionate love. Some say she removes any obstacles out of the paths of lovers. Logi- Fire giant whom beat Loki in an eating contest in Utgard. Loki- Known as the trickster, also one of the Aesir. In some myths he was first conceived a fire demon at Utgard- Loki, which is where he gained his name of Loki. he was the Fire, strife demon that would cause earthquakes, optical illusions and played many tricks. In some myths, his origin was of the giants. Said to be the god of strife, trickery, fire and evil, this was brought from when he had found and swallowed the heart of Gullveig after doing so, he gave birth to the wolf Fenrir, hel and Nithog Serpant, or Midgard serpent. All considered monsters. He caused the death of Balder by hoaxing Hoth to throw the mistletoe toe at him, the only thing able to kill Balder. Balder could have been returned from Hel if all living things would weep for him. When Loki heard of this he took the form of a woman and was the only living thing not to weep. Loki was finally chained to a rock where a serpent would drip venom on him and where he remains until the twilight of the gods, which is also known as Ragnarok. his wife Sigyu stays with him, and catches the venom in a dish. Loki will lead the forces of Midgard. Midgard is a fortress encircled by a huge serpent, also known as Loki's offspring, called Midgard serpent, or Jormungandr, it is inhabited by men and built by the gods. It is the middle region of the universe. Loki was said to invent the fishing net and he originally obtained Thor's hammer and legend said he also gave birth to the 8 legged horse, Sleipnir which is Odins horse. |
| Magni- God of strength and son of Thor. he lifted the Giant foot of Hrongnir off of his father at only 3 days old. His brother is Modi. Himself and Modi will inherit Thor's hammer Mjollnir after Ragnarok. Menglad- Goddess of healing, her home is on the Lyfjaberg. the hill of healing. Modgud- Guardian. She is the woman whom guards the bridge over the river Gjoll in Jotunheim. Modi- God of wrath and courage. Wind deity son of Thor and giant female Iarnsaxa. Modi and brother Magni will inherit the hammer of Thor when Ragnarok occurs. Modsogner- One of the dwarf creator gods whom existed before the creation. Chief of all artists. Mudsogner was created by Odin from the maggots found in Ymir. Mothir- Goddess of the nobly born. Mungilfari- Father of the Mani the moon and the sol the son. |
| Nanna- Moon goddess. Wife of Balder and the mother of Forseti. She saw her husband get killed by the mistle toe branch and soon died of a broken heart, or giving up her will to live. Narve- Son of Loki, with his wife Sigyn. His brother Vali was named after Vali who avenged Balder. The gods turned Vali into a wolf expressly to rip Narve's body apart. his intestines were used by the gods to tie up his father. Nehallennia- Goddess of plenty and fertility. She appears to be connected to the sea, or with the sailors. The cornucopia is her symbol. Nibelung- High gods, Nibelung is the brother of the schilbng. They were slain by Siegfried with the Sword Balmung. Nidhod- Winged dragon who flies around Nifelhel. He is one of the monsters to try to injure the roots of the tree of life, Yggdraisel. Nidhod chews the corpses of the evil. Night- Goddess of night and daughter of Narvi, mother of day. She rides her horse around the world and brings in night. Njord- Originally a Vanir God of riches, dispenser of wealth, fertility and harvest, fire and weather. When called upon by those at sea, he brings good fortune. When the war between the Vanir and the Aesir ended, they exchanged hostages Njord and his son Frey were given to the Aesir. The Aesir gave Odin's brother Henir, and the wise Memir to the Vanir. Njord met and married the Giant Skadi, daughter of Thiassi. Njord personification is summer and his wife is winter. His home is Nuatun, which is near the sea, and his wife's is the mountains. Which is where she lives while Njord stayed by the sea. It is said he was Satnus, father of Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto. Nordri- One of the 4 dwarfs to support the heavenly vault on his shoulder. The vault was made from the skull of Ymir. Nurns- Goddess of destiny. The 3 prominent goddesses are Urd (fate) Skuld (future) and Verandi (necessity). They reside and care for Yggdrasil, or the tree of life. The set and control universal laws, the fate of mortals and the Aesir. Urd and Verdani were said to be the most beneficial, but the legend says Skuld would unto the good. Their main purpose was to weave the web of faith. Norui- Giant father of Nott and ancestor of the Nurns. Nott- Goddess of night. Sister of Dagr (day) she rides in a dark chariot drawn by sable horse Hrim-faxi. The mane of the horse drips dew and frost onto the earth. |
