- The publisher at Gun Show Books has sent word that the H&R book is through with editing and moving to layout and illustration selection.

Thanks to everyone who came by at the latest Gun Show in January. I picked up some new items for the collection that I will share when I get pictures. The next H.G.C.A. show will be May 16th and 17th.
I've had word from the publisher at Gun Show Books that editing on the H&R Book is on track. We are currently looking for book cover designs. More on that later.

Another Gun Show has come and gone. Thanks to everyone who came by. The next H.G.C.A. show will be January 17th and 18th.
I have forgotten to mention my latest project. I have been contributing to the Iver Johnson and Harrington And Richardson sections of the latest Blue Book.
And we've had over 3000 visitors and counting.

We are back online! You may have noticed from all the mentions of the Houston Gun Collectors Assocation (Next Gun Show scheduled for October 25th and 26th, come and visit), that I am located in Houston, Texas. Hurricane Ike did minimal damage here at Casa Del Goforth, in spite of the fact that the eye wall passed directly overhead. We spent a week and a half without electricity and a further week without phone and internet service. But everything is back up and running now, and I am getting to work on the backlog of emails and forum questions. And after a long error filled process, I have confirmation that the publisher has the H&R book in hand.

--27 AUG 08--
We have had over 2000 visitors since the SiteMeter tracking was added. Woohoo! Using that information, I've noticed that about 7% of our visitors don't have JavaScript enabled in their web browsers. Since the menuing system makes extensive use of JavaScript, these guys have been unable to navigate the site properly. So I have added a new, boring, menu that doesn't use JavaScript. If you have JavaScript enabled, you should see nothing different. The non-JavaScript enabled folks should see a list of links that will function as a site menu. And don't forget that the H.G.C.A. Gun Show is scheduled for October 25th and 26th. Come by and visit if you are in Houston.

The new H&R book is currently scheduled to be released late this year, November or December. It will be available from Gun Show Books. The book will cover H&R products manufactured between the years 1871 and 1986. In other news, the next H.G.C.A. Gun Show is scheduled for October 25th and 26th.

And we're back. The delay was the result of my old ISP (who shall remain nameless) selling off it's dial-up service to another ISP (who shall also remain nameless). After several unsuccessful attempts to move the web site to the new ISP, Yahoo's Geocities is now hosting the site. Hopefully the ads over to the side won't be too intrusive.

Good news everyone. I've found a new publisher and signed a contract. I don't have all the details of release yet, but check back here soon for information such as publication date, cost, and what the new cover is going to look like.

Bad news everyone. The previous publisher of the book is apparently no longer publishing books. I am currently exploring other methods of getting the book out. Current possiblities are a new publisher, self publishing, or releasing it on a CD as an e-book. In related news, If there is a demand for it, I am willing to provide a CD that contains copies of all the Iver Johnson or H & R patents for a small fee. Look for further details next month.

Things are looking up.The publisher has contacted me, and layout on the book has begun. The Wanted For My Collection page has finally been updated and the Web designer has made some small changes to the look of the site. Hopefully more good news soon.

Due to circumstances outside my control, the new edition is on indefinate hold. However, I am working on a new reference covering H&R firearms. If you would like to contribute to this effort with information on firearms in your collection, follow this link or click on the "H & R Collectors" item in the menu.

The new edition is still at the publisher with no ETA beyond 'early 2003'. The first five chapters have come back to me for revision, which has been done and sent back to the editor. This new edition contains new information and expands the scope of the book.
