Atomic Designs is a graphic design business focused on creating images, logos, or other customized graphics. Atomic Designs takes these images or provided images to create custom t-shirts, sweatshirts, vinyl stickers, hats and more. We use different techniques to create different looks depending on the job such as dye sublimation, vinyl cutting, or screen printing.
About Atomic Designs
Documentation of the Devolopment Process
The intent and purpose of this website is to show possible customers what kinds of services can be offered by my uncle Frank. This website was not intended to be a marketplace, but to actually show examples of his work as well as explain the different services and the different products that can be tailored to the customer's needs. The steps I took was to collaborate with a graphic design artist who has a similiar business to make sure all the different aspects of the company were covered by this website.
Defense of the Final Product
The design of the webpages is very simplistic and keeps a dark background to make the graphics pop out of the page. My intent was for the customer's eyes to be drawn to the graphics as the pages render. The typography chosen was sans-serif for the main text and palatino for the company name, navigation bar and page titles. This was done to make sure all customers no matter what browser they are using will see the same text. Those two fonts are very popular in html code. I am not a fan of websites which look like a giant table with all the page elements within. I designed this website trying to keep away from the table effect. I chose to put the navigation bar on top and to spread it out evenly. I was able to obtain the code to do so from stackoverflow.com. I included the reference to this code within the css file as a comment. My main goal with the overall design was to keep the arrangement of the pages logical and easy to read. I made sure all of the pages in this website will easily adjust to whatever screen size the customer is using.
Opportunities for Improvement and Growth
In the future I would add more examples of past work done by my uncle. In the end I am a little unhappy with the ammount of images since ultimately this was the purpose of the site. If I had more time, I would look to easily allow my uncle to add images into the design. I would also add a order form in the future to simplify my uncle's business processes.
