Mohd Mazlan was a former Assoc. Professor in the Faculty of Built Environment at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where he was also the former Quantity Surveying Head of Department. He has many years of exposure and experience in the area of Value Management and was privileged to be granted the Commonwealth Science Council scholarship undergoing a personal training by Prof. Roy Barton of University of Canberra, Australia in 1990, the noted authority in Value Management in Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom. He was at that time appointed as the Visiting Fellow at the University of Canberra. He was the first non-Australian to be accepted as the member of the Institute of Value Management Australia (IVMA) in 1990 which was then known as Institute of Value Engineers Australia. He has been teaching Value Management to the final year Quantity Surveying students and so far more than 100 graduates have benefited from his program and successfully supervised a number of final year Quantity Surveying dissertations related to Value Management. He used to run seminars at many major towns in Malaysia and Brunei to familiarize the technique and conducting VM studies for many major clients such as SIRIM, PWD, DID, State Governments, Higher learning institutes, etc. He is currently the President of the Institute of Value Management Malaysia (INVAM). He
conducted the first National Seminar on Value Management in September
1999 which was officiated by the Finance Minister of Malaysia.
Ms. Zubaidah will be carrying out another part of Module 2, which comprises the life cycle costing and risk management. A senior lecturer in the Faculty of Built Environment of UTM in the area of Building Economics and Project Management. She
is currently involved in 2 major research projects related to life
cycle costing i.e. the developing of Life Cycle Costing Model and
the Design of Life Cycle Costing for housing in Malaysia.
Assoc. Prof. Wan Yusoff will be carrying out Module 3 together with Mohd Mazlan. With the background in Quantity Surveying, he is actively involved in research and presenting papers either locally or internationally mostly in the area of Quality and Productivity. An
Assoc. Professor in the Faculty of Built Environment of UTM, he
used to be involved with the workshop facilitation in site management
for YTL Corporation. In addition to that, he is the examiner for
the Professional Examination of the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia
(ISM) together with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia and
also a Council Member of the Institute of Value management Malaysia
(INVAM)
