is in all of us
All it takes to become a Muslim is to pronounce the Syahadah:

I witness that there is no God but Allah,
and I witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Or you could say that in Arabic too:
Islam, the universe, mankind, animals all belong to Allah. He is the God, and everything else are his creations. As stated in the Quran, Chapter Al-Ikhlas (112):

1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
4. And there is none like unto Him.
About Allah and Muhammad
Muhammad is the last of Allah's prophets. He was sent by Allah to give warnings as well as promises of good tidings; so that mankind can benefit in both lives.

As mentioned in the Quran, Chapter Al-Furqan (25), verse 20:

AND [even] before thee, [O Muhammad,] We never sent as Our message-bearers any but [mortal men] who indeed ate food [like other human beings] and went about in the market places: for [it is thus that] We cause you [human beings] to be a means of testing one another. [16] Are you [17] able to endure [this test] with patience? For [remember, O man,] thy Sustainer is truly all-seeing!
