Matthew Croft is a fairly underrated player, but ask any Bulldogs supporter and they'll tell you what a sensational backmen he is. He often gets the job against the oposition's best forward eg Wayne Carey.
One memorable moment this season was when he stepped around Carey and marked the ball in the final minute of the Kangaroos game in round 15. It saved an almost certain goal which would have won the Roos the game.
Troubles with hamstring injuries in the past held him back considerably. Even though he missed the first few games this year, season 2000 was probably his best year. He won the best backmen and quiet acheiver awards for season 2000. |
