Will the Dogs be the first team to beat Essendon? Most people would think "not a chance". But I'm sure Terry Wallace and his boys think the are a chance to beat the ladder leaders on Friday night.
The Bulldogs have shown that they can match it with the top sides, already beating both Carlton and the Kangaroos this year. However, Essendon are a class above the rest and not many teams have even come close to beating them.
If the Doggies are able to pull off the near impossible and beat Essendon, they will need all their players playing well.
The backline will be stretched to cover the likes of Lloyd, Lucas and Hird, with Kretiuk to face a fitness test, Hunter still sidelined with a finger injury and Ellis out for the season. This could mean Grant having to play a role down back, as he did last week against Collingwood.
While it would be great to have Grant in the forward line too, it seems, on paper, the Dogs have enough goal kickers. Garlick has been in fine form in the last 2 weeks and Hudson's goal last week that sealed the win, should give him some confidence. Johnson, Smith, Eagleton and Brown can also kick multiple goals.
I predict the Dogs by 1 point.
