Even if you normally only ride in the daylight, there will come a day that turns into night on you. If you run at night anyway, then you will know what I mean by saying,"You can not have TOO MUCH light!" The more light you have the easier things will be, everything from driving to winching to repairs.
Probaly the most popular add-on lights are the classic "K.C. Daylighters" There are many others, though. Mainly depends on what you like and just how much light you want. A single pair of K.C.'s will make your headlights seem like parking lights. A double or even triple set of them and.....well, you better have sunglasses.
If you are going up into the several Million candlepower type setups, you do need to make sure you can power all these lights and still run normally. Two things have to be replaced for better equipment. First being the alternator, takes a specially wound Hi-Amperage type. Usually less than $100. Second is the battery itself. Not only do you need the absolute biggest you can get, but common practice is to run dual batteries. If you run an electric winch, this is considered a MUST HAVE item. |
