Very interesting. Didn't find anything connected with the family of James LARKINS & Mary BROSMAN or their children of Co. Kerry. Will look in again later. Would be great to find evidence of where they lived (Listowel?) or marriage of Cornelius O'SHEA and
ary LARKINS abt.1860 Killarney.

Iam interested in finding where my greatgrand
father came from in Ireland. He immigrated to
America beteen 1845 and 1850. His name was Thomas F Corcoran and his father and mother were
John and Mary. I believe he had a sister named
Bridget. He boarded with her and her husband in
Glens Falls, New York. He eventually married a
Annie O'Connor who was from Carrigulla, Co Cork.

reat idea! Slainte'

I am looking for decendants of Henry Hughes, ne
1818 to 1822. His sister has a recommendation from the Rev. Stuke, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan. I understand there are two kinds of Hughes names, one anglicized from Irish, and the other a result of Cromwell's invasion. I really hope I'm NOT a decendant of
the English family. Please respond if time allows. Thanks, Stevie Fox
P.S. Have you ever heard of Rockmarshall?

I have not yet found which ancestor came to USA from Ireland. My great grandfather was Thomas Magee. He was born in the USA,I think in the 1850's in New Jersey. The only note in the family bible was his name and the fact that he was born in the USA.I know
there are many spellings of Magee.I hope to stay in contact and hope to have more information some day. loraine magee

I stumbled on you by accident, but I bookmarked
the site immediately. Thanks for all your work.
I am of Irish descent as far back as I can trace
in the USA. I am trying to solve a linguistic
problem currently. All members of the same
family(that of my maternal grandmother) are either
CRAY/CREAGH or MCGRATH in Ireland (Rathdowney and
Durrow in Co. Laois (Queens) and Ballyragget in
Kilkenny) Most of them emigrated to Penn Yan, NY
USA as McGrath, but found earlier (1850 +) family
members who were CRAUGH in Penn Yan. The newcomer
MCGRATHS became CRAUGH too in the 1880's. For
instance, my grandmother was born in Ballyragget
as Catherine McGrath, daughter of Martin McGrath.
She appears on my mother's birth certificate as
Kathleen (Kitty) Craugh. No one presently alive
in our family seems to have an answer, except
possibly the dropping of the MC name because of
anti -Catholic prejudice in the 19th century in
upstate NY. Yet the CRAY/CREAGH name appears in
the records of the RC church in Rathdowney.
Martin seems to have become MCGrath when he moved
to Ballyragget. Does anybody out there have any
ideas for me? I am really stumped and can go no
further until I have an answer. Thanks for
