Sandy beach, salty air and grey skies kept the filmcam in the
car. The digicam satisfied my needs in this situation.
Drake's Beach. Stylus 300 digicam. Original image was taken at SHQ 2048x1538 super high quality setting. This produces an image 14 inches wide and 144 pixels/inch. The gulls were nervous, so I didn't have much time to compose the picture. This picture has too much blank sky and blank sand. The blue box shows the portion cropped out to make the picture below.
The image above was cropped, sharpened, and resized down to 3 inches wide with resolution at 72 pixels per inch. Now I've got something interesting in the foreground, the middleground and the background without a lot of boring wasted space.
Limantour Beach. The digicam chose very different exposures for the pictures.
