Once you have installed mIRC (this applies to all versions)
Go back to the general options button, (2nd button along from the left, same button as you went to to add your server) and you will be presented with quite a few options, all highly configurable.
1.Choose a nickname you want to use, have a 2nd nickname incase the 1st one you chose is already taken, then locate the "Connect" option, (as you did with adding a server)
there you will see the following options
Full Name : you can put anything you want here.
E-Mail Address : you can put anything here as long as it has a "@" after it (example [email protected])
Nickname : Here put your chosen Nickname, this can be anything, as long as it doesnt start with a number fist. (Example 25-Tammie-Uk wont work, however Tammie-25-Uk will!)
Alternative : Here put your 2nd chosen Nickname (just incase) :o)
Once you done all that, your ready to connect!
Click the "ok" button and then click the 1st button from the left on the toolbar (next to the general options button, a little menu will popup saying "connect")
Once you have connected, you will want to join a room(s)
If you unsure what rooms there are, and want a list to choose from, type /List and you will notice a window pop up listing all the rooms that are in use on the server, just use your mouse to select a room you want to join, and right click, and hit "join channel" and there you go!
Another way to join a room, is if you have a name of a room, or dont even have a mouse!!!!!
you can just type /join then the room you want to join (example /join #mIRC)
that will take you into the #mIRC room where you can ask other questions as needed.
If you want to start your own room, and want to join that, just type /join then the room you want to create, assuming the rooms isnt already taken, you will join your room, and then you can start telling other about it!!!)
