The 1970s Revisited - With A New Twist

The music of the 70s...arguably the greatest era rock music has ever known. In the Feb. 2006 edition of Rolling Stone a cover article entitled "Teens Save Classic Rock" makes the point eloquently. But we won't go into that here. If you're interested, pick up a copy. It's worth a read. The gist of it is people have grown tired of the thump, thump, thump of hip hop, the shallowness of current pop, and the transparent emotionalism of the new age rock. They're hungry for something with a little more substance. Just like you and I are. Something that triggers an emotional response-be it the lyrics or the music or both. There's a good reason that groups like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young (affectionately known as just CSN & Y), Neil Young as a solo, The Allman Brothers, James Taylor,  and Aerosmith are still selling lots of records. They connect with people. Young and old alike.

I'm a product of that era. And so is my album. All the above named plus bands like Kansas, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, Loggins & Messina, Dan Fogelberg, Yes, Deep Purple, Chicago (known back then as Chicago Transit Authority - remember?), Cream, Jimmie Spheeris, Eric Clapton, Journey, and countless others all had an influence on me.  If you made up a recipe for original music and threw in varying amounts of all these band ingredients - I'm one of the possible results. A dish that might just  make your mouth water with anticipation. After having been told that this music sounds so retro,I realized there's no escaping the facts. I AM a flesh and blood representation of the 70s. So what could I do? Go with the flow, of course. In The Moment is what I now refer to as my Baby Boomer Rock album...and it's about all the people who mean the most - family and friends. Of course, one of my greatest influences also crept directly into the music-fellow Baby Boomer James Taylor makes a virtual  appearance in He's Old Like Me. But my style is still my own. It's thinking man's music. Do you like that "warm and fuzzy" feeling when you curl up on the couch to just chill out and listen to some tunes? I do. Do you like a little more substance in your music? Me too. Curious what Baby Boomer Rock is? Then you owe it to yourself to give it a listen. Baby Boomer Rock? That I will leave up to you to decide. Maybe you've got a better name for it. I'm always open to suggestions! Drop me a line!

I sincerely  hope that you will enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed making it. It truly was a labor of love.
