Taking back Sunday
New York's hardcore/emo band came to a venue in Cincinnati while they were on tour with Rival Schools. I didnt expect much coming from a hardcore band but when Taking Back Sunday came out and started playing that all changed. The band consists of Eddie Reyes and John Nolan on guitar, Shaun Cooper on Bass, Mark O'Connell on drums, and Adam Lazzara on vocals. What caught me the most was the energy i saw Adam with, jumping around all over the stage like he had just taken 4 hits of sugar cubes. On top of being all over the stage, adam's vocals soared throughout the audience, with screaming lyrics and emotional lyrics as well. The guitars sounded to be right in tune with every sound, and the drummer piecing it all together to fit just right. Taking Back Sunday put on an amazing show, even if youre not a hardcore fan, i plan on seeing them again soon hopefully on their way back. Im telling you these guys rock, see them, youll enjoy.
The Commercials
As a local band coming out of Harrisburg PA, The Commericals put on a great show. I caught the show in Athens Ohio, coming in late during the second opening band, who i dont rememeber maybe because they sucked. When The Commercials came out on stage, i was suprised how well they played, Drew's (guitar/vocals) voice carried throughout the crowd, melodic and soft. You could tell whenever the song got hard, and when it was time to bring out the screams, which i like if you dont know the band that well. They played only six or seven songs, which is short but the show was free. Overall, great band, great vocals and great songs to nod your head to. The Commercials are touring all around the U.S. you can find out when and where theyll be, thecommercials.net.

I caught Hot Rod Circuit at a local venue in Cincinnati. The line up consisted of Bottom Line (local cincinnati band), Further Seems Forever and of course Hot Rod Circuit. Arriving late to the show, i caught the last few songs of Bottom Line. These guys were pretty much ordinary pop-punk, nothing too exciting. Then Further Seems Forever began, i was kind of worried of their sound since Chris left for Dashboard but in my personal opinion they sounded even better. With new vocalist, Jason Gleason provided much harder and more of a screamo type vocals in place of the sweet lullabys. Moving on to Hot Rod's performance, they played a great show. I hadnt heard much of the new record so i was very curious. I have seen these guys two other times and they always gurantee a quality show. Although this was a tour supporting the new record, they played many songs off past releases, including Irish Car Bomb. One of the most exciting parts of the show, was the bassest (Jay Russel) who entertained the fans with his metal-like hyperness. Jumping off walls, screaming and oh yes even head banging, Jay definitly created a fun and energetic performance. Even though i find some of Sorry About Tommarow's songs sort of popy, i totally support the new record. Hot Rod Circuit put on amazing shows, i am anticipating the return of Hot Rod with The Get Up Kids sometime in July. Tour dates are available via hotrodcircuit.com.
