amfm
Touring with some of Pennsylvania's best in the punk scene, amfm made a stop in between Cleveland and Philly at a local Cincinnati venue called The Mad Frog. The show featured some great bands including Digger, The Hunningtons, and the all mighty fav. Atom and his Package. Waiting patiently as Brian and Michael step on-stage to set up their gear, three unfamilar band members who supplied the tour with female backup, original keyboard, and drums suprise the fans with something extra.  As soon as everything was prepared, Brian starts the show out with virgins! virgins! one of their most emotional -beachboyish songs, and awakens the crowd into sweet hums and head bobbing motions. Depression and heart wrenching vocals tore through the crowd leaving us amazed with the reality of each song, something expierianced very seldom in punk shows. Throughout any tour, shit happens- half way through, if we burned all the.., brian forgot the lyrics and half way through the show, michael had technical difficultys in guitar feedback. Despite these small problems, the show was well worth the drive and price. Soft emotional harmonys, slow guitar lines and amazing unique instruments amfm put forth a great show with an expieriance so brillant and well prepared.

Brandtson
Hardcore, art, poetry and overpriced condiments are just a few words that describe the atmosphere. Traveling over 400 miles to Cleveland I prepare myself for an all day event consisting of pure slug-fest, in support of a local artist/ musician by the name of Hess a.k.a. HessFest. Waiting almost all day just to catch a 40 minute set by the deep elm favorites Brandtson I notice the bands front man Myk Porter stumbling in with a speaker box and cable cords with an eager smirk across the face as the rest of the band follows. Finally as the band's sound check is complete several minutes later, Brandtson opened up with Breaking Ground off of their second release Fallen Star Collection. Sincerely one of the best shows I have been to, Brandtson throw out amazing vocals which prove to be just as crisp as the record itself along with ground breaking guitar lines. Personally, Brandtson are one of my favorite bands so this might be part of why I dug the show so much, but honestly they fuckin rock. The emotion throughout every song played just hits you harder and harder making you feel as part of each story told. One major key that kept the show moving faster and faster each song was the energy thrown out by Matt Traxler (guitar) which fed the crowd with energy and emotion creating an even better show. Ending their set with Cherokee Red (off Dial in Sounds) the show completely blew away any other show. Afterwards, I stayed around to catch a few words with Matt who by no surprise was very friendly, thanking him for an amazing experience and a great show. Without a doubt one of the best shows I have been to, I highly recommend any listener to stop by and catch these guys at a venue near or far. You can most likely catch these guys in Cleveland (their hometown) or possibly throughout your city on tour. www.brandtson.com or www.deepelm.com/dates.html
