• Currency - the interest people have in an event or situation
• Shock value - the event is an attention grabber.
• Drama - This adds color to the story. The more picturesque the background and the more dramatic the actions are, the more appealing the story is to the reader.
• Romance and Adventure - the romance and break-up of Kris Aquino and Joey Marquez made headlines for months. But romance may be experienced with many things such as astronauts with space or environmentalists on endangered species.
• Significance - this attribute refers not only to the importance of an event but also how this event will affect people.
