The subsequent investigation reveals a lesbian lover, another high-level government official, desiring anonymity. McCoy and Baltimore ASA Ed Danvers are brought in front of the Independent Counsel, who demands McCoy reveal, his source or be jailed for contempt. Briscoe and Curtis apprehend the suspect in New York in time to save McCoy but the suspect, now in the custody of the FBI, is never brought to trial.
