A MOTHER’S PLEDGE

 

While the annual observance of mother’s day is a time for honouring mothers, it can also be a time for rededication on the part of the mothers themselves, who often feel they have lost their way in the maze of everyday duties and responsibilities. Here is a "Mother’s Pledge" by an unknown author that expresses this spirit of dedication of motherhood:

· I will do my part to make our home a happy place of work, play, love and worship.

· I will never punish to relieve my inner feelings but rather to bring good into the lives of our children.

· I will lead them to appreciate beautiful literature, music, art and the world of nature about us.

· I will lead them to appreciate and befriend people of all races, and to live above petty grievances and neighbourhood gossips.

· I will take time to teach, talk and listen to our children and to answer honestly all their questions about life.

· I will do all I can to prepare them for happy and useful living.
