I didn't want to wait to be contacted. So after the early morning came and passed and mid day was here I went down town. I learned a few things now and of how to be more discrete. This town is more complicated then I thought it was. I would have to adapt. I left my weapons in my room in the slums. I must say that I felt alittle bit uneasy knowing there could be an enemy around any corner. The market place was safer then most areas though. A weapon was not exactly illegal, but it wasn't exactly looked upon well by the security forces either. I went shopping for a hooded overshirt, a dark brown almost black one to blend with the buildings at night. I found a long dagger and sheaf that strapped beneath my pants where it would not be noticed but it could still be drawn. I also found two throwing knives to hide in my boots. Finding weapons here was harder then expected. I looked and found nothing. The blacksmiths swore they didn't make such items. The dealers of tools said they don't sell such items. When I figured that maybe they were hiding such items, I took an unusual approach. I looked for a wealthier dressed man selling poor profiting items like food and clothes and asked to see the secret stock. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not, but I found what I needed although it took the whole rest of the day light to do it. Metal wasn't cheap in this area, and weapons where even less cheap in this town. I exhausted all but the last few coins I had on a few modest blades. I walked into the Fireside Inn once again. I ordered one pint. I kept to myself. I said nothing to anyone. I drank it quickly and left soon after. I never lifted up my hood for anyone to see my face. I left a note beneath my glass. "I don't wish to play games, I want answers. I am no pawn, and my patience grows thin. I will talk tomorrow after dawn. You know where to find me." I took the long way home again and I almost lost myself. If I was followed there skill amazes even me. I don't know what to expect tomorrow, but I'm not letting them make all the rules. I would hate to use force. |
