The Epic of Dalen Grey

I didn't know what to expect coming to a dark ally Just before sun down. I kept asking myself what I expected to see. Each time the question was asked, there was a different answer awaiting me. I wasn't sure what kind of man I would meet. The image I painted in my head was a wealthy business man, an eccentric man surrounded by guards. I saw him as average in height and slightly stout. I was expecting a large battle, fighting side by side and over powering those thugs. So I sat, alone and bored, dressed no better then a displaced man looking for a place to sleep for the night.

So I waited further. The sun went down and there I waited. The stars appeared in the night sky and still I waited. The waiting got to be so unbearable I never fell asleep. I then decided I could not wait much longer. As I stood up, I heard voices. There was something else I heard somewhat more troublesome. It was the sound of metal, the sound of drawning steel. But where they allies or where they friends?

They quickly decided to answer my question. There were five guys, four with long thin blades and the other was lightly armored in leather and held a scimitar. His face I remembered from only a few days before. He pointed at me and four of them came charging. There wasn't any doubt now they were Dragon Foot.

I grabbed a large rock on the ground and threw it. It hit the knee of the first guy and as he fell, he tripped up one other and they lost formation. I ran towards the remaining two. Just before they came within range, I Jumped and rolled under their blades. With my sword extended I managed to slice accrossed one of there legs. The guy who tripped was fast upon his feet and Just in front of me. As he lunged at me, I stood up and deflected his blade upward spun around and sunk my sword into the side of his stomach. I turned to face the last of the four who charged me. Our blades clashed back and forth and he had definite skill. He advanced too quickly. His sword was easy to avoid, I grabbed his arm and pulled him toward my blade. I fell back and rolled and used my feet to kick him behind me. That rock must have done more damage to his knee then I expected, but I broke his arm at the elbow Just in case I was wrong. I walked casually and stopped 15 feet before their leader.

"Your friends are alive still, you can leave right now and they Just might stay that way."

"I cannot surrender until you have faced me. It would be a great dishonor."

"If you insist, I'll make sure you die with honor."

He took a defensive stance. We stood facing each other, sizing up our opponents. He wore a hardened leather chestpeice, and plates covering his forearms and front of his thighs. He moved very fluidly and I could sense his devotion to his training. We stood there, holding all our actions and studied each other. His hair was Jet black, short and stood on end. His face was covered with a clothe from his eyes down. His eyes were dark as well. He dressed as elegantly as his fighting style was. Even his sword appeared to be crafted with great care and artistry. I knew it was coming to an end, I could sense the battle tension building to a break.

A chime had sounded throughout the town, I knew not from what or from where.

He bowed to me and spoke. "I regret I must leave, I swear on my word you will have your chance."

With that he turned and fled. Two of the others had fled and two stayed to hold me back. They were inJured and bleeding and fell rather quickly. They sacrificed themselves to save him, such loyalty I thought. I knew I wouldn't catch him and I couldn't stay and wait for gaurds. I took the back allys back home and hoped I wasn't followed. I wonder where Delick and his men had been, it almost kept me awake all night.
