Beautiful Muslim Beliefs |
Want to know what is most interesting about muslim beliefs? It is the strict observance of one commandment of God, to worship none but Him! This alone is sufficient to take muslims to Paradise!
Another unique thing about muslim beliefs is this: Since it is God alone who knows the Whole Truth about any matter........and only God who is the best to make rules and laws, muslims depend entirely on Him to tell them what to believe and what not to believe! In other words, muslims do not have their own opinions. They rely totally on the revelation of God, the Quran, for guidance in all affairs.
Muslims also believe in following the example of Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of God be upon him). All muslim beliefs are founded on the teachings of the Quran, and the sayings of the Prophet (may peace and blessings of God be upon him) . These sayings are recorded in narrations called hadiths. This hadith literature is referred to as the Sunnah. Muslims consult both the Quran and the Sunnah for guidance in all walks of life.
You can find much peace, comfort and consolation in the world of muslim beliefs. In fact, many muslim beliefs are so beautiful, I can't help but think how glad I am that Islam is my religion.
Some of the muslim beliefs which I find particularly beautiful are:
1. Paradise lies at the feet of the mother.
It wasn't until I became a mother myself that I realized how true this was! Bearing children is one of the hardest things a woman goes through. There are the discomforts of pregnancy, then the pain of child-birth to deal with. A woman goes through hardship upon hardship from the moment she becomes pregnant till the time she delivers the baby. And after the baby is born.....(one of the most beautiful feelings in the world is the joy the mother feels when holding her new-born babe)..........the mother cares for her baby until he grows up. And no matter how old and big the children grow, a mother will always look after her children till the day she dies. There is a lot of sacrifice involved. A mother is one of the most beautiful creations of God! And in Islam, a mother has a very high status! Muslims are not allowed to break off ties of kinship, especially with their mothers. Even if the mother is not muslim, she gets all the attention and respect that she rightfully deserves. This islamic belief makes me proud to be a muslim.
2. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another.
This is another beautiful muslim belief. No man can be punished for a deed done by someone else. A man is held accountable for his own actions and is not responsible for things other people do. In other words, man is a creature of free will. For the choices he makes, he alone is responsible. This is one of the main islamic beliefs. It ensures that each man strives and struggles for the benefit of his own soul.
3. Death is not the end of life. Muslims can look forward to a better life in Paradise, where they will dwell forever.
This is a wonderful muslim belief. Something that gives me much comfort and hope. It gives me strength to bear the trials and tribulations of this fleeting life. I dearly love my husband and children, and it sure feels great to know that I shall be reunited with my family in the after life - never again to part!
4. Actions are judged by intentions.
Justice demands that actions be judged by intention. In any court of law, the question of motive has to be answered before the judge makes a ruling on the case. For example, there are two men brought before a judge. Both of them are guilty of murder. But the first had done it in self-defence, to protect himself. While the other had done it out of hatred. Do you think the punishment for both these men will be the same? Of course not! Justice demands that intentions and motives be taken into consideration before the final verdict. God is the best Judge of all. And it is certainly nice to know that all of us will be judged by our intentions.
5. There is no compulsion in religion.
This is truly a lovely islamic belief. No man is forced to embrace the muslim religion. Anyone who is compelled or forced would naturally have no liking nor love for the religion. A person who is forced to do something against his wishes will also not follow the commandments of God the way they are prescribed. God wants his servants to serve and obey Him voluntarily. Worship of God is the main goal of a muslim, and it should come from the heart. If a man is forced to convert at the point of a gun or sword, then I doubt if that man truly becomes a muslim. And even if he is recognized as a muslim, I wonder if he will remain one for long!
6. Men are protectors and maintainers of women.
This really takes the load off women, doesn't it?! Women are not expected, nor are they obligated to provide for their families or children. A woman is not prohibited from working and earning money. But whatever she earns is all hers and she can do whatever she wants with it. Women in Islam are very much protected and cared for! Wonderful, isn't it?
Muslim beliefs are not based upon blind faith. In fact, each and every belief has to have supporting evidence and proof. Muslims do not believe in anything they like, rather they believe in everything that God has revealed. They believe whatever God tells them.
