1. I understand that this contract is to protect myself, the dog, and the breeder in special circumstances and that this contract is not an indication of expectation. The breeder fully believes that the dog being sold is sound in every way and expects it to live a long healthy, happy life with the buyer and that the buyer will be a caring and responsible pet owner.
2. I, the buyer, agree to take proper care of the dog I am receiving. I will provide plenty of quality dog appropriate food on a daily basis. I will always provide fresh water. I will never allow the dog to fall behind on routine veterinary care, including vaccinations. I understand that the average annual vet costs for a dog are around $200 and I am prepared to pay those costs. I will never leave the dog outside unattended for more than 5 minutes, not even in a fenced in yard, as I understand that tiny dogs are often targets of predators and thieves. I will never tie or chain the dog outside unsupervised. I will never physically abuse the dog. I will not allow others to abuse the dog. I will protect the dog from larger dogs where ever possible. I will not keep the dog in a cage or kennel or other such enclosed space for more than 9 hours a day.
3. I, the buyer, understand that small dogs, and all dogs in general, may have difficult aspects and I am prepared to be patient and kind regarding these. I understand the dog might take a long time to be truly housebroken. I will not lose my temper over accidents, only provide gentle but firm direction. I further agree to never leave the dog alone unsupervised with children under 6 years old for both the dog and the child�s best interest.
4. I, the buyer, agree that if at any time I no longer wish to own the dog for any reason, that I will return it to the breeder. I may return the dog for a full refund within 1 week as an �allergy trial�. If the return is more than a week but within one month of purchase, I will receive 80% of my purchase price back. If the return is over one month but under 6 months from the purchase date, I will receive 50% of my purchase price back. If between 6 months and 1 year from the purchase date, I will receive 25% of the original purchase price back. If I make the return more than 1 year after purchase, I understand I will not receive any refund. I understand that what I paid for the dog, as well as any supplies and veterinary care is my own financial loss and responsibility. I absolutely may not resell the dog, nor give it to a shelter, rescue, or other such organization UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
5. I agree to take proper care of the dog when special health circumstances occur. I will not put the dog down just because I don�t want to pay a veterinary bill. If treatment is available that will give the dog a good quality of life, I will pursue that treatment up to $___________. If there is no chance of a quality of life, then I understand I may choose to have the dog put down instead. I especially will not put my dog down because it needs maintenance medication, such as for allergies or skin conditions. I will return the dog to the breeder if health issues cause me to not want the dog anymore.
6. I understand that my dog has a 6 month from birth health guarantee against life-threatening congenital defects IF I TAKE HIM TO A CERTIFIED VETERANIAN WITHIN THREE BUSINESS DAYS OF PURCHASE to prove he had no defects at that time. Once this proof of veterinary review is provided, if the dog should need veterinary care to save its life due to something that it was born with, the breeders will either pay for the care or provide me with a replacement dog, depending on the circumstances. After the dog reaches 6 months of age, the breeder revokes all health responsibility and the standard return clause applies. Note that non-life threatening birth defects are not covered at any time. Any and all veterinary costs after purchase are my sole responsibility as the buyer.
7. I understand that my dog has a 1 week guarantee of overall health. The breeder releases the dog to me knowing that it is not ill in any way, including but not limited to stomach ailments, kennel cough, parasites, or parvo disease. If the dog should contract any illnesses after I take it into my care, that is my responsibility. Proof of illness must be provided in writing by a certified veterinarian.
I have read, understand, and commit legally to all of the above.
