Due to the nature of this industry, the subjects covered may vary, Students will nonetheless have a lifechanging experience on this busy 2 week course, doing most, if not all of the listed activities. |
THE COURSE COULD INCLUDE: - Game capture and translocation. - Wildlife nutrition and feeding. - Basic astronomy & geology. - Fauna & Flora, and related research. - Basic farm maintenance (fences, roads, construction etc.) - Basic vehicle maintenance and repairs. - Reptile park maintenance and snake handling. - Cheetah breeding project. - Boma elephant care and nutrition. - Predator care and monitoring. Tracking released cheetah on foot. - Take part in different community projects for rural children. - Learn some bush cooking skills "boskos". - Wilderness camp and basic survival skills. - Animal behavior and approaching on foot. - Conservation projects. (Planting out trees, erosion control, seed harvesting etc.) - Rifle handling and rifle care. Organized culling. - Marine ecology and beach clean ups. - Plant ID. - Bird ID. - Insect ID. - History of local cultures. - Game counts and techniques. - Impact studies and small mammal surveys. - Basic first aid. (Snake bites etc.) - Infant rearing. - Socializing and relaxing around a fireplace in the "lapa". |
