Symptoms associated with IST
(please note that these are NOT diagnosis criteria) :



palpitations

A conscious, unpleasant awareness of your own heartbeat. Palpitations can usually be felt in the chest or neck, but can be felt in other parts of the body as well. Palpitations are the most common symptom reported by IST sufferers.

shortness of breath

A feeling of difficult, uncomfortable or laboured  breathing or a sensation of not getting enough air into the lungs.

pre-syncope

Pre-syncope is the medical term for "feeling as if you are about to faint"

syncope

Syncope - the medical term for loss of conciousness / a blackout / fainting. Some patients with IST have reported fainting, but this is rare. Other causes of fainting MUST be excluded - including other heart arrhythmias that could potentially be dangerous.

dizziness

Dizziness is a sensation of light-headedness or sometimes of feeling faint, feeling dizzy can also mean it feels difficult to keep your  balance while standing or sitting.

exercise intollerance

Exercise intollerance is said to occur if moderate exercise is too strenuous, minimal activity causes shortness of breath or conversation cannot be maintained during minimal activity.

fatigue

A feeling of lack of energy, weariness, or tiredness. Fatigue can also be called exhaustion
or lethargy. But it is not the same as drowsiness or apathy. IST sufferers are occasionally diagnosed as having 'chronic fatigue syndrome'. It is not fully known if there is overlap between the 2 syndromes.

blurred vision

Blurred vision is loss of sharpness of vision resulting in a loss of ability to see clearly or focus on small details.

tingling

Usually meaning Lack of sensation or Paresthesias ("pins and needles" sensation)

sweating

In this case, taken to mean an awareness of increased perspiration
