| Sunday, May 26. If I don't start this now, I'm never going to. It's now a few weeks after the convention (June 10th), so forgive me if my memory is a bit shakey. On Sunday, I just tried not to stress about getting to the convention on time. I needed to sleep and that was all there was to it. So if there was a breakfast, I missed it, unfortunately. I was feeling really bummed, actually. Why? Eh, no particular reason, I guess. Anyway, I was suffering from a lack of sleep and I slept in, relatively speaking. I ended up getting to the convention around quarter after eleven, I think. I was supposed to meet up with Bardiel and co. whenever they showed up. I can't remember whenabouts that happened, but Sunday was a relatively slow day. I spent the greater part of the morning monitoring the Dealers Room entrance. There was never a line of more than five people or so waiting to get in and the line never formed for longer than ten minutes, so there weren't too many impatient, pushy people today. The only thing I had to watch out for was making sure everyone had his or her badge with them. There weren't really any problems and the other security I was with took care of most things. I did run into someone outside the security office who had a very interesting story to tell me about needing to get something down from the rafters. I was sort of like "Huh?". lol...I just couldn't believe someone'd managed that. One of the other security people went to find Todd to take care of the issue. I'm sorry I couldn't have been more helpful, but I'm just a volunteer! I ran into a few people who recognised me, but there weren't many, really. You know, I have no idea if I should use real names or not, but I will for now and if you don't want me to, then let me know and I'll substitute whatever nickname you want. =P I ran into Jeff and Keith outside the security office. You two have no idea how happy I was to actually run into people I knew. ^^ Didn't hurt that finally someone wanted to take my picture either. lol. Anyway, I was on what seemed to be a permanent break, for some reason. I kept checking in with Marc, but he said that they were okay, so I could go and enjoy myself. Bardiel and Rufus (I need to pick a nickname and stick with it here >_<) ended up guarding a hallway where Sailor JAMboree was when they weren't on stage and I sort of lost track of them for a while. So, they ended up doing all the work and I ended up having relative freedom. As nice as that may sound, it wasn't. In a way, I guess it was a cruel sort of irony, considering it should've evened out what happened on Friday, but...I just felt guilty and they got to be useful and get first dibs on all the free stuff. I ended up sitting in on some of the DDR finals. No one I knew was up, but it was fun sitting and watching with the UTM people. You guys are really cool, whether you believe me or not. I was glad to share my Pocky with you. =P (on another note: Bwahahaha...ph33r the power of my non-Convention Pocky! Instead of having to pay the incredibly high price of whatever it was in the dealers room, I planned ahead and brought a supply of Pocky from the Chinese grocery store. ^^) I also watched the end of the Battle Royale Tag game thingy. I wish I'd actually watched the challenges earlier on, since it looked like a lot of fun and I keep hearing about it now from people who were in it. I still won't participate next year, since I wouldn't want to tie up my con schedule, but I'll try and watch more of it. Anyway, Dany kicked ass, since the final challenge was DDR and Jon made a good stab at it. Good job, you two! Ha ha...should've taken more pictures...Too bad. Lets see...Oh yeah! Seems like I was in the Mercury room all day, since I stuck around for the karaoke. I kind of lost track of time after I finally successfully got my picture and picture cd from the Masquerade desk and I ended up being late to the closing ceremonies. Taking a step back, I ended up getting another two packs of EVA cards, since the price had been cut in half. No foil cards, but I did get a lot of cards I hadn't had before. Oh, I still got my fair share of doubles, triples and, in one case, quadruples, but I'm very close to finishing some of those multi-card pictures. I forgot to check my record of lodoss tapes the night before, so I unfortunately decided not to get the tape I'd asked a dealer to hold on Saturday (it turns out that was one of the ones I needed =\). I can't remember if this was the day I bought the plushies or not, but I ended up getting the Seichirou plushie. One other thing: I decided I would certainly get at least one of those $30 EVA artbooks, but they were both gone! I should've made up my mind on Saturday. When will I learn? Oh yeah, it's because last year I bought my Angel Sanctuary artbook when I should've waited until Sunday when I could've got a discount. -_-; Just like last year, I found the closing ceremonies to be a disappointment. I don't know why I really bothered going, except that I wanted to stick with the group. I still had no idea at that point where Bardiel and Rufus were. Turned out that they were packing up the dealers room and scoring whatever the generous dealers donated to the cause. I thought I'd be helping with tear down too, but no one ever contacted me..probably because I should've watched the time when I was in karaoke and left sooner. After the closing ceremonies, I went to the security office to track down Todd and ask about my refund....and to collect my stuff. I'd taken off most of my costume earlier, since it was too bloody hot in all that pleather and not worth carrying around that pepper all day, since no one was really interested i taking a pic of me anyway. I think only a few people recognised me and I think some others thought I was dressed in a jrock costume...with a pepper. lol. This is when I finally found Bardiel and Rufus again...checking out the free stuff. I managed to run off with some dubbed Tenchi and Sorcerer Hunters. *sigh* Even if it's dubbed, it's probably the only way I'd get to see that stuff and I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth, so...Oh well. I really would've liked RG Veda, but I guess watching Dany and Jon sing will have to make up for the fact that I was caught napping and lost my chance. Saying good bye was kind of sad, since I felt like I was just starting to get used to hanging out with the people there. Of course, the con overall wasn't a very good experience for me, so I was also glad that it was over. I missed the Dead Dog entirely this year, since I was just too burned out and I had a hell of a lot of homework to do that I needed to get done for the next day. Of course, I hadn't started it, since I didn't get home until so late on Friday and Saturday. Oh, before I forget...all you people who ate my Pocky? I expect to be repaid next time I see you! Just kidding. ^_^ That's not quite it for my Anime North report, so check out my special omake section! ^_^ |
