The muffler transmission loss setup essentially consists of two impedance tubes (plane wave tubes). The first tube on which the source is mounted is the exhaust pipe, and the second tube is the tail pipe. The algorithms of the two-load method or the two-source location method can be used to determine the transmission loss of a muffler. This setup can also very easily used to determine the noise reduction of a muffler.
