The rotor test rig is used to perform a variety of condition monitoring studies. Studies on cracked rotor have been successfully studied. The rig has provisions to introduce rotor unbalance, misalignment, and looseness. The rig can also be used for coast-up and coast-down studies. The rig can be operated at varying speeds. This rig which has been designed and fabricated locally is a very inexpensive alternative to expensive imported rotor test rigs, for introducing to students the basic rudiments of machinery fault diagnosis in rotating machines.
