The transmission loss setup is used to determine the acoustical transmission loss of barrier materials as per SAE J 1400 standard. This setup can be used to compare between the sound barrier effectiveness of different materials. Numerical models have also been developed for determining the transmission loss of barrier materials. Experimental validation of the predicted transmission loss can be done using the above setup. The sound intensity probe is used to measure the incident and transmitted sound intensity.
