The acoustical
impedance tube setup has been fabricated locally from funds provided by
a consultancy project from M/s. Mahindra & Mahindra, Nashik. This
test setup is based on the ASTM E 1050-98 standard. By using this setup
the normal specific sound absorbing coefficient of acoustical materials
as a function of frequency can be determined. The impedance tube can also
be used to generate plane waves, which can be used to calibrate the microphone
pair in a two microphone sound intensity probe. The impedance tube can
also be used for basic plane wave acoustical studies in ducts, active
noise control studies in ducts. Two such impedance tubes can be used to
evaluate the performance of silencers. |
