How did they form?

At the age of just 12, Dave McPherson and Joe Morgan decided to form a band. After messing around on just keyboards for ages, they eventyally got their hands on guitars. It wasnt until july '96 that Simon Taylor was approached by Dave's brother asking him to join the band, completing "Drowned"

Dave - "Simon was the only drummer we knew so I didnt know him very well so I sent my brother over to him and said do you wanna join Dave's band and that was that."

Joe - "It's quite a funny story actually cos Si actually thought he was getting a fight didnt you. Cos his brother actually come over n went oi!"

Simon - "My brother wants a word with you!"

Joe - "Got you in trouble mate..."

But in actual fact they just wanted you to drum?

Simon - "Yeah"

Dave - "Cos I think he would have probably of beaten me up."

Simon's dad became manager of Drowned, arranging gigs, support slots, promoting the band etc. But it wasnt until Drowned supported a band belonging to the Music For Nations called ISM, that they were under proper management. After Drowned's set got delayed due to a broken symbol, Lora Richardson from Music For Nations managed to catch the last song of their set, "Lava Twilight".

It was then that Music For Nations handed them the record contract.

Artwork

Overgrown Eden
- The pregnant woman on the front is to represent overgrown and the apple and gates are to represent eden.Together creating the image of an overgrown eden.

Crushed Like Fruit - both artworks were designed by fans and selected as winners of a competition held by Music For Nations. CD1 is meant to be "just like a waterfall in black and white".

Neptune - Alot of questions were raised concering the reason behind the cover of CD1. But it was just a simple way of promoting the album. They wanted people to buy CD2 ahead of CD1 as CD2 contains tracks from the album.
