GOD IS OUR FATHER

Look at the context of what He said and don't try to interpret it, just read it. And regarding the issue of perfection; of course we can never be perfect. But Christ came that we could have the Power to not only change our way of living, but also to want perfection even if we can't achieve it. Why? Because if we value perfection and believe in our hearts that we should behave better than we do, we will thus be of a submissive mind. He expects us to try daily, repent daily, get up when we fall...else he wouldn't have said "Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" and He never says anything in vain.

Through Saint Paul, Christ further spoke in Philippians 2:5-8 about what He expects from us, God's children. Galatians 2:20 shows us that we can at least try to follow Philippians 2:5-8 by allowing Christ to live in us. The alternative to not trying is very apparent in the world today!!! It is better to spend your entire life trying, repenting, changing than to do nothing; we see the consequences of doing nothing in our society. Not to say that trying to do as He said is not difficult. Paul spoke about the difficulties in Romans 7:14-25. Of course it is a struggle and of course we will suffer. But suffering can be turned into a positive because of what? Obedience!!!

Look in Hebrews 5:8 and 1 Peter 2:21. If we are obedient, even when we suffer for it, we will be doing His Will. But beware of self-righteousness and pray always that you don't become a victim of it. If you are obeying God, through Christ as it is written, God will give you the Power to avoid such inevitable pitfalls, or at least recover from them. Don't be discouraged when you fall; just pray always, repent and get back on the track of obedience because God will Forgive you of your sins. But I digress. Let's go back to His conversation with the Jews about us being of God and look at it contextually.

First, the Jews only saw Jesus Christ as a man (and they still do to this day). So the Lord Christ was speaking to them according to what they were meaning when they took up stones; note verse in John 10:34 Christ said CLEARLY (notice He wasn't speaking in a parable) "YE ARE GODS..." Christ was referring to what God said in Psalm 82, particularly vs 6.

Twice already you have seen with your own eyes what God has Said with His own Mouth. Who do you believe? What if Christ said with His own Mouth that God was your Father, say, three times? Would you believe? What about three times three? Would you then believe? Well, between Matthew 5:45 and Matthew 7:11 Christ said that God is your Father 15 times. Then to top it all off, in Matthew 7:21 Christ says that same God is His Father. And look in John 20:17 (read the whole verse) at what are perhaps the most exciting and beautiful words ever spoken. WHO do you believe???
