TOPIC: GOD IS OUR FATHER God is your Father. Many times in the New Testament this is repeated over and over. Some might say "yes, He is our Father, but only in the figurative sense." God is our literal Father. If we believe the Truth, we will soon INHERIT Eternal Life. If we believe the Devil's lies, as did Adam and Eve ( Genesis 3:4-5 ), we will only inherit death (note the first serious consequence of their believing the Devil was the loss of their son). In Genesis 1:26 , God said that He made man in His own image. Fatherhood as we humans know it is a mere shadow of the True Fatherhood. Many may disagree, but the Bible is the Word of God, not we and our opinions. Before we go deeper into God being our Father, let's first look briefly at the one who would have us believe that God is not. Satan the Devil is the adversary of man and God ( 1 Peter 5:8 ). He hates the concept of God's Fatherhood and is jealous of us. The Devil deceives the whole world; it is written ( Revelation 12:9 ). And what does that mean? When one says the whole, it means us ALL. Not part, not many, but all of us. And that means that unless we believe the Word of God we have been deceived. There are only two forces to believe; God or the Devil. Despite our intelligence, the Devil is more intelligent; Ezekiel 28:12-14 talks about who the Devil is, in verse 12, describing him as the sum total of wisdom (among creatures of God). We are easily fooled by him. Between God and the Devil, only God left specific instructions and if we follow them, we are protected from being deceived. In His instruction, He specifically identifies Himself as our Father. To believe that He is not is to believe the Devil. If we reason in our hearts, then we do as Eve did when Satan appealed to her intellect ( Genesis 3:1-5). Notice the difference between the words the Devil uses in Genesis 3:5 and what God uses in John 10:34 . Satan wants us to believe that we are LIKE gods, as in all the trappings and power and stuff---ability to fly around and have power over somebody, yet never thinking in terms of self-control or power over one's self(ishness). Notice in Isaiah 14:12-15 what the Devil's pre-occupation is of when he thinks of God; notice how he focuses on the position of God rather than the Heart of God. The Devil wants us to focus on the possession of superior intelligence and the aesthetics (outward appearances) of being a god. This is what Satan emphasized to Eve. You ever notice what our imaginative "superheroes" in the movies and comics are able to do! They fly around, shooting lasers and energy rays. Those type of things are what we think of when we think of Godliness; but God thinks of Godliness in the sense of the Fruit of the Spirit---those Fruits are described in Galations 5:22-25 . God clearly says we ARE Gods, as in we must be what He Himself is---merciful to each other and obedient to God, as Christ is. It is written in Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called THE CHILDREN OF GOD." This is what being God is all about, as Jesus proved when He was beaten to a pulp and never lifted a finger to defend Himself, even though He could have if He wished. This is what God speaks of when He says turn the other cheek or forgive your enemies. Satan knows this, and that's why he tempts us to do the opposite, including focusing on those non Spiritual aspects referred to in Genesis 3:5. If you honestly look at it, the only person that has any interest in us not believing is the Devil. If we believe, we benefit from the Truth (which leads to peace on earth), and this is why the Devil has, from the beginning, tried to make us not believe. Open your mind and don't look to reason around the Word itself. In the civil courts of men, all one has to do to prove an allegation is to provide a preponderance (alot) of evidence. Let's now look at the preponderance of Proof that God is our Father. The most common reasoning that man uses regarding this issue is that we shouldn't make ourselves equal with God. Yet in ( John 10:34-35 ) Christ said plainly "...you are gods." Notice how the translators of King James' (the English king who commissioned the translation of the most widely distributed translation of the Bible) time, just like the Jews that Christ was talking to, didn't believe what Christ said either! They put the word Gods in lower case (gods), thus making it seem that Christ was saying the word in a generic sense rather than actually referring to God and making man equal to Him. Who do you believe? Immediately, human nature would try to reason many things! "O, Jesus was only referring to Himself..." or "He didn't really mean that we are Gods..." or "who can be equal to God because He is perfect..." Well, look what else Christ said: "Be ye therefore perfect even as YOUR FATHER which is in heaven is perfect." But what say the scoffer: "...yeah, but... yeah, but... yeah, but..." Don't try to reason around it, we are His children ( Acts 17:28-29 ) and as it also says, we should be thinking in terms of the Spiritual not the physical (gold, stone, etc.). go to page 2 3 back to home page |
